USD Overview (22 January 2021)

Yesterday, USD weakened against most major currencies except CAD.

The Unemployment Claims data (Actual: 900K, Forecast: 930K, Previous: 965K) released yesterday indicated a decline in the number of claimants for unemployment benefits.

The housing data released indicated an increase in the number of approved buildings and the number of residential buildings that started construction.

• Building Permits (Actual: 1.71M, Forecast: 1.60M, Previous: 1.64M)
  
• Housing Starts (Actual: 1.67M, Forecast: 1.56M, Previous: 1.58M revised from 1.55M)
  

The flash PMI data will be released later at 2245 (SGT).

• Flash Manufacturing PMI (Forecast: 56.6, Previous: 57.1 revised from 56.5)
  
• Flash Services PMI (Forecast: 53.3, Previous: 54.8 revised from 55.3)
