How would it perform in live market data . Will it adapt real time based on previous behaviour ?
chrisvafeiadis

@chrisvafeiadis, How did it go?
MystryBox
At the start of the video the moving averages are so close together because it's optimizing to the past, not making a useful indicator. That technique is awesome if you trade on past data, but not so great if you trade live data.

You'd do better to NOT find the most profitable pair, but to find an MA pair that remains reasonably profitable even if it's modified slightly up or down in length. That is the most robust MA pair rather than the most profitable. The most profitable generally won't work forward in time as well as the most robust.
MystryBox
The other problem you'll have is MA crossover is a trend following technique and generally works when the underlying is trending up or down. When the underlying is whipsawing/reverting to the mean, MA crossover tends to lose money. An oscillator type indicator is better for reversion type trades. So you also need to filter for "trendiness" to find WHEN to use your indicator or when the underlying is unlikely to be profitable regardless the MA periods used.

@MystryBox, Ok Mr Taleb.

@GrantPeace, Just trying to help. Try putting actual money on that indicator. After you lose it all, maybe you'll listen.
