Accuray (ARAY) said premarket Tuesday that it has obtained 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for its ClearRT Helical kVCT Imaging for the Radixact radiotherapy platform.
ClearRT produces diagnostic-like quality computerized tomography (CT) images compared with conventional linear accelerator systems that rely on cone-beam CT imaging. It also provides a simple and cost-effective alternative to magnetic resonance-based radiation therapy systems, according to the company. Commercial release of the ClearRT imaging system in spring of this year, Accuray said.
