Well, it happens but not too frequently. The important lesson here is to know that it was aligned with technical analysis and did not just produce unexplained price action. That is very important to process on your ladder of inference.
As for the aftermath, well price usually covers the gaps. So again, this, if it happens, will fall into technically predictable price action.
