Barrick’s Uptrend May Not Be Done

Barrick Mining peaked almost four months ago, and some traders may see further upside in the gold producer.

The first pattern on today’s chart is the rising 200-day simple moving average (SMA). B has made higher monthly lows above that SMA since mid-March, which could reflect a longer-term uptrend.

Second, consider the series of lower highs between late January and mid-April. Prices ripped through that falling trendline this month, which could suggest its intermediate-term downtrend was broken.

Next, B is stabilizing around a 50 percent retracement of its move between August and late January. That may also confirm a longer-term uptrend.

Finally, stochastics are stabilizing near an oversold condition.
