Here is my AltCoins index, an update for some of you, along with other newly published crypto indexes.
Generally, these indexes do not have a long market history.
The idea is that that history is limited by the exchange / the market with the least history, it's not exactly that, but almost.
These indexes are not magic, a good strategy dwarfs the value that these indexes bring.
If you consider the steps before trading with a strategy, recommended by a trader I learn from:
Step 1 - Context: You will want to consider an exchange with a lot of history, for instance BITSTAMP:BTCUSD.
Step 2 - Technical Framework and Step 3 - Signals: Price precision using the indexes will have low impact on the Technical Framework, but I suspect improved signals quality!
Step 4 - Risk & Money management
Each index may contain up to 10 markets, Tradingview limitation.
I avoided 'Calculated by Tradingview' pairs.
Also, if you would compare with previous versions of these indexes, you will see the update value is ultra limited, so these updates won't be frequent.
A - Cryptos MCap index (billion USD)
This is the sum of the top 10 Cryptos capitalization, excluding USDT (top 11 minus USDT, so 'top 10') based on the exchange price with the greatest weekly volume per coin.
The volume indicator is not consistent when using this index, so be careful not using FIXED RANGE (because individual volumes would need to be provided in USD, not in coins)
This index should allow analysis of the money/capitalization in Cryptos, approximately.

C - BTC price Index (USD)
This is the weighted BTC price average with the most weekly volume, based on weekly volume per exchange.
I chose within the markets where the volume is consistent, so the volume indicator is reliable with BTC price Index, FIXED RANGE OK. (note that BITMEX is excluded)
This should allow good BTC price analysis and optimize signals quality, especially with cycles indicators (Tom Demark, Pro Sinewave, etc.)
With my 'important zones' in mind, I 'translate' that to the exchange I use for Step 4.
For instance, if I want to position a Stop Loss under a shadow, this shadow is a bit different on each exchange.
The price being a bit different everywhere, this is why I say 'important zones'.
I make up an idea how to determine my entry, my SL, my TPs, etc. using the index; but the precise determination happens on my exchange.
It would be simpler to use the index exclusively for the signals, but when I do this, I don't look at the index anymore!

Ceci est la moyenne pondérée du prix BTC des exchanges avec le plus grand volume hebdo, en fonction du volume hebdo par exchange.
J'ai choisi parmi les marchés dont l'indicateur volume est consistant, donc l'indicateur volume est fiable avec Indice prix BTC, FIXED RANGE OK. (notez que BITMEX est exclu)
Ceci devrait permettre de bien analyser le prix du BTC et d'optimiser la qualité des signaux, spécialement les signaux de cycles (Tom Demark, Pro Sinewave, etc.)
Avec mes 'zones importantes' en tête, je les 'traduis' sur l'exchange que j'utilise pour l'étape 4.
Par example, si je veux mettre un Stop Loss (SL) sous une mèche, cette mèche est un peu différente sur chaque exchange.
Le prix n'étant pas le même partout, c'est pour ces raisons que je dis 'zones importantes'.
Je me fais une idée comment déterminer mon entrée, mon SL, mes TP, etc. sur l'indice; mais je les détermine précisément sur mon exchange.
Il pourrait être plus simple de simplement utiliser l'indice que pour les signaux, mais quand je fais ceci, je ne regarde pu l'indice!
