What else it has are forecasts in the market of crypto-coins. The last to give his opinion was Arthur Hayes, co-founder and CEO of BitMEX, one of the largest bitcoin brokers in the world.

Hayes again stated his prediction at the end of last year. In a conversation with CNBC, on Tuesday (14), he said bitcoin will reach $ 50,000 by the end of 2018.

From the current price, bitcoin would need to value 500% for its forecast to be made, making its market value reach $ 850 billion. Although it has recovered in recent weeks, in 2018 the BTC accumulates a variation of -35%.

Hayes explained that he is an operator of volatility, and he earns money from the price volatility of bitcoin, something he did not miss in the year. "If it rises, if it falls, if you have Bill Gates calling it fraud ... Sale, I do not care. If you think it will reach $ 1 million in a few months, great, buy it. I still do not care. We just put the traders together "(in allusion to his role as exchange CEO), Hayes said.

BitMEX is geared towards retail investors, but instead of trading in the spot market, it has some of the advanced features you expect to see on an institutional trading platform, including derivatives, margin trading and leverage of up to 100x. The exchange also allows the trader to operate sold.

Currently, BitMEX is the most traded volume in the world daily, with more than US $ 3 billion in the last 24 hours, mostly due to leverage and margin.

Hayes also addressed the cultural differences that affect the crypto-currency market dynamics in the Western world and Asia, some of which suggest that two-thirds of the market originates.

"I think that Asia dominates the crypto-coins because they are very accustomed to trading digital assets," Hayes said, pointing to South Korea where locals are accustomed to trading virtual goods in video games and where the culture is easily transferred to trade of crypto-coins.

And they are individuals, not institutions, that are generating the bulk of the volume.
