I think the out of the downtrend indicator trumps the volume indicator that you are looking for. If one waits for the noted indication we will miss out on substantial portion of the move. As you may have noticed, I am in this for the long term based on the fundaments as it is closely related to my field of study.
The key is to break up the trades and add or subtract as the market moves.

Interesting chart. I would like to see low volume down bars above 5 before looking for longs.
You have to be cautious when there are high volume gaped up/down bars.
