Corelogic has a 65/share outstanding buyout offer from Cannae and Senator. This is why the shares popped. Although technically it can drop into the gap as you suggest, with the buyout offer outstanding, it probably will never do so. Several analyst feel that Cannae may up the offer 75/share. So it is pretty risky to short these shares. The risk/reward is not there.
