Trading the Clock: Copper Hunt for Session Liquidity Sweeps

353
Trading through time is the art of intraday trading when only 2 things matter - time and recent sessions extremums. Below setap for liquidity hunting on XCUUSD

Global Fundamentals:

- COPPER stockpiles across LME (London Metall Exchange), COMEX (New York Commodities Exchange), and ShFE (Shanghai Futures Exchange) have hit a 20-year high, creating massive overhead supply
- high prices are already dampening demand in China, the world’s top consumer, while rising inventories in London and New York continue to pressure the market
- the current Chinese New Year celebrations mean thin liquidity during Asian hours
- therefore expect the real volatility to kick in during the London and New York sessions

Local Technicals:

- on Tuesday, Feb 17, price tested the lower boundary of the [5.73, 6.14] horizontal channel, performing a minor (0.78%) stop run during the US pre-market before reclaiming the range
- it is common for price to sweep session liquidity by 1-2 pips before the main move starts
- there are three local liquidity pockets above the current price
- since Shanghai is closed, I am focusing on EU and NY liquidity as targets for a potential reversal
- these levels act as magnets before a downside continuation toward the NY and Shanghai liquidity pools sitting below the 5.68 support

Conclusion:

- session trading often involves lower-volume moves, but it provides extra price anchors for intraday entries and exit
- over the next two days, I am watching the reaction at the EU and Shanghai liquidity pockets for a short entry
- targets are the NY (TP1) and Shanghai (TP2) lows

- scenario is invalidated if two bars close above 5.86
