3 Month High Breakout $CSCO

NASDAQ:CSCO   CISCO SYS INC
We are seeing a continued breakout in CSCO             this morning after a slight pullback. It is in a confirmed uptrend on the year although a choppy one. Entry now at the highs of the day with a stop around $29 would be ideal trade, but possibly setting a stop as low $25.50 for a more conservative approach in your risk calculation.

I am long CSCO too. However... if it goes to $25.50... that's then you BUY more, not sell.

I don't disagree with you on buying more. My strategy is to buy breakouts and set stops that should leave enough room for a trade to digest recent moves. I live by stops that risk no more than 1% of my trading capital and look to hit homeruns on trend follow through. I can be in stocks for a wide range of time from a week to years as long as the trend doesn't breakdown. I don't average down only average up. Honestly, $25.50 is too tight of a stop for me, but my system I developed says that's the point to get out and revisit on the next breakout. I like to use the stop the system suggests and then to calculate my # of shares to purchase I tend to move the stop down a bit more to build in a cushion.

Very systematic in my approach. I'm not a pure trend following trader, but for the most part I am looking for 1 big trade to pay off many small losses and if I'm any good at picking the stocks I'm entering then more times than not I have more big trades than small losses and make life changing amounts opposed to grinding it out.

I still do hold long-term holdings too though that aren't fully vetted by my system, but 90% of my trades are systematic with few overrides.
