Sadly, many people around the world, not just Indonesia are still taking the Covid-19 virus lightly.
I can almost hear them saying these :
It can't be me ;so they say and go about their daily lives.
This is the government job, not mine !
The animals have spoken at last, serve the humans right !
So on and so forth............
Of course, to a certain extent, some law-abiding people who do not flout the rules intentionally may be more aware and choose to stay at home more after noticing these "ghosts" volunteers on the street. That of course is the intention of the volunteers, to keep people off the streets.
Price has consolidate for more than 2 years before it breaks down and it looks like more gloomy days ahead before we can see sunshine. In terms of testing, there are many rural villages or hard to reach places that medical assistance may be hard to access to.
And still people are traveling from one city to another as if nothing has happened. This will increase the spread of the virus. Unemployment figures too will skyrocket as many suffering from poverty and barely enough will struggle to survive with inadequate government support.
I can't help but think of the days I was in the Army. To unite the soldiers together, we have to eat, train and be punished/rewarded together. When one soldier makes mistake, all get punished. Of course, there were lots of resentment and hatred but over time, this is one of the fastest way to get people to wake up and realise we are all in the same boat. The faster we co-operate and stay at home, increasing the social distance, the faster this pandemic can be over.
Let's play our part ,everyone. Spread the message, wherever you are . Wear mask, maintain social distance, go out ONLY when necessary and keep yourself and family safe and healthy.
