I loss trade both in EURUSD and EURCHF due to strong price jump during the weekends.
Reason: Highly relevant news event could increase price volatility, therefore it is difficult for the trader to intercept the sudden move.

I see you learned your lesson :) Yet, I agree with your macro economic trend analysis, it may still pursue. Just don't set your stops too tight before a major news event. Proper risk management of this particular trade should incorporate the event and allow the spike drawdown on your account within your account's risk boundaries.
