GBPUSD Consolidation Bearish pressure renewed

406
GBP/USD is currently showing bearish pressure after failing to break a key resistance zone but buyers were unable to maintain momentum, leading to a strong rejection and renewed selling interest.

Fundamentally, the downside move may also be influenced by U.S. dollar strength. Strong U.S. economic data, higher Treasury yields, or hawkish Federal Reserve expectations typically support the dollar and pressure GBP/USD lower. On the other hand, weaker UK economic data or dovish Bank of England expectations can further weaken the pound and contribute to the decline.

From a market structure perspective, the pair experienced a sharp decline followed by only a limited recovery, indicating that the recent upward movement may have been a corrective pullback rather than the start of a new bullish trend. The rejection near resistance strengthens the bearish outlook, especially while price remains below the previous highs.

The support zone around 1.3340–1.3350 is now a critical area. If this support breaks, additional selling pressure could push the pair toward 1.3320 and potentially 1.3300. However, if buyers successfully defend this level, a short-term rebound toward 1.3380–1.3400 remains possible.
