What Halving means? Halving is a term common among cryptocurrency miners – the process sees the reduction of mining rewards of cryptocurrencies slashed by 50%. The halving is the event, the moment when the mining reward is divided by 2, is commonly called "halving". Other denominations are used: "reward drop", "reward halving", or simply "the halving" or "the Halvening" which is a popular meme among bitcoiners.
Litecoin Mining Reward Litecoin which runs on the same base code as Bitcoin halves its block mining reward every 840000 blocks or roughly every four years. The next halving of the Litecoin network is expected to take place on August 09, 2019 (ETA). We are going to see the second halving that will bring the coin reward down to 12.5 coins from the current reward of 25 coins. Miners are currently awarded with 25 new litecoins per block, an amount which gets halved roughly every 4 years (every 840,000 blocks). The Litecoin network is therefore scheduled to produce 84 million litecoins, which is 4 times as many currency units as Bitcoin.
