Presidential Stock Market Performance

SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUSTArca

Description

Every day it seems that the media puts out the best of reasons... from the smartest of experts... as to why the stock market and economy is going to CRASH soon! This has gone on for as long as I can remember. Why do they continue to publish this misinformation? Because it get's ATTENTION!

What does history ACTUALLY tell us about stock market performance following Presidential elections with the same political makeup we have today?

You need to listen to the nonsense you talk. 19 percent. The market is up over 100 percent in the last 11 months.

@CJS04, How do you figure that? I see here on my end that Pre-Covid the Dow is up 16-20%'ish depending how you chart it. Are you referring to just the Naz from the March low? If so, that makes sense I guess but the Naz isn't the "stock market" it's just an index, right? I'm not pointing fingers here, I'm a newbie just trying to learn.

@GiveMeSkinny4Sho, look at Marchs low. If you want to compare to last Feb before the correction or around the time Biden took office this year, then yes, we are up like 12%+ percent. Now show me once ever that the dow has risen like this from last March' low. Ever in history. Meaning even the 1900s, early 1900s. It hasnt. The Dow on average does about 10% a year. Granted coming off a correction it will move but up nearly 100% in a year from the low? That has never happened. Then look at the 12 year history. Follow the trend. By the way, I am looking at the Dow but Nasdaq will be similiar. All in all, they pretty much mimic each other, for the most part. (not exact, but close enough). Welcome to the stock market world.. be careful... remember, the market always recovers so as much of a correction as there might be, new highs eventually are always made. Its all about figuring your best entry for investors and then you have your day trade crowd. Learn trends and what they mean. Rising wedges, falling wedges, price zones. The market will take all your money at first but hopefully sooner than later, you do well.

Did you really just use a CNBC article as the foundation for your conclusion? Yikes. This site gets dumber and dumber everyday. Hell, let's just start quoting unverified CNN and FOX articles and call it a day.

Thank you for the refresher here. The past certainly helps to widen the macro lens or daily "here and now" trading rut I often find myself in. It's interesting that market history favors democrat politics. I never thought to even ... well, think about that. Thank you for the analysis!
