You are correct. Its really an optics thing to encourage small shareholders.
All things been equal nothing should change other than the shares you will own will increase by 10x and they will be 1/10th of their value pre-split
If shares split u will get multiply shares at different price and when you sell u will sell at different price as well not in your favour. Split shares just another trick how to make few cents out of you.
