Problem is the Vxx can’t be properly charted. Charts work on companies because people can see the buying pressure, supply, demand, and when things are overbought and oversold. Everyone looks at the same graphs and buys in. The VXX is based on the VIX, which has no bearing on any of that. It’s not a supply and demand. It’s based off of implied volatility of options. This implied volatility and VIX volatility is determined primarily by the actual news, economy, and other fundamental story changes. Ultimately, the VIX is controlled by the outlook of the future based on the actual economy and news, and therefore by the implied volatility generated from large disagreements amongst investors betting every which way. Not by people looking at charts determining whether things are oversold or creating a pattern
