The "new CFO turnaround" narrative circulating around 
WEN deserves scrutiny before retail chases it higher.
Wendy's previous CFO was terminated without cause at the end of 2024. The replacement came from Potbelly — where merger filings revealed millions in cash consideration and equity-related payouts tied to the RaceTrac deal. That's not a clean turnaround story. That's a CFO who just cashed out at his last stop walking into a new seat.
The real question: is this a genuine operational inflection, or did retail step in as exit liquidity after the first squeeze candle already faded?
The setup that mattered was $6. Price is now $7.57. The easy money on the long side has likely been made, and the narrative is now louder than the price action warrants.
UntilWEN shows structural improvement in fundamentals — traffic, margins, same-store sales — this reads more like a momentum story that's already priced in the hope.
