I am certainly no expert so correct me if I am wrong but short means you think the market will go down. They do not mean short- or long term. Short is that you short a stock, ie borrow the stock in order to sell it. It is a bearish move. In this case, you are long on a short-term :p. Long means you think the price goes up.
