what about the public/private ledger merge? what will it do to a real world use case?

@tcoolhon98, the question is, is the XRP going to be involved in any way? People talk about ledgers as if it was the same as cryptocurrencies running on it. From what I understand it is just an environment where any cryptocurrency token can run. If Ripple or Stellar etc. provide their ledger to be used by others, it does not mean their own cryptocurrencies will be used more. Am I right?
