USD/CAD — Bullish Structure HoldsUSD/CAD — Bullish Structure Holds, But Buyers Need a Break Above 1.4250
1. Market Overview
USD/CAD remains firm on the 4H chart after a strong upside move from the lower range near 1.3600–1.3650. Price has continued to build higher and is now trading around the 1.4210–1.4220 area.
The pair is currently moving sideways near the recent highs, which suggests that buyers are still active, but upside momentum has slowed slightly. The key question now is whether USD/CAD can break above the upper resistance zone, or whether the market will enter a deeper pullback after the strong rally.
2. Market Structure
From a market structure perspective, the USD/CAD remains in a bullish structure.
The price has been forming higher highs and higher lows, indicating that buyers have been in control for most of the recent trend. The sharp rally above 1.4000 also confirmed a strong shift in momentum.
However, after reaching the 1.4230–1.4250 area, the pair has started to consolidate. This does not mean the trend has reversed, but it does show that buyers may need fresh momentum to continue pushing higher.
3. Daily / 4H Multi-Timeframe View
On the 4H timeframe, the bullish structure remains valid as long as price holds above the short-term support zone around 1.4160–1.4130. The pair is currently consolidating near the highs, which often happens after a strong directional move.
From a broader daily perspective, USD/CAD still looks constructive. The pair has recovered strongly and is holding near upper levels, but the market is approaching a resistance zone where profit-taking may appear. A confirmed breakout above 1.4250 would strengthen the higher-timeframe bullish view.
4. Key Resistance
1.4230–1.4250
This is the immediate resistance zone. A clean breakout above this area would suggest that buyers are ready to extend the rally.
1.4300–1.4350
If USD/CAD breaks above 1.4250, this becomes the next upside target zone.
1.4400
This is the next major psychological resistance level. A sustained move above this area would confirm stronger bullish continuation.
5. Key Support
1.4160–1.4130
This is the nearest short-term support zone. Holding above this area would keep the bullish structure intact.
1.4100–1.4050
This is the next important support zone. If price pulls back deeper, buyers may try to defend this region.
1.4000
This is a key psychological and structural support level. A clean break below 1.4000 would weaken the bullish structure and suggest a broader correction.
6. Momentum & Volatility Check
Momentum remains bullish, but it is starting to cool near resistance.
The previous rally was strong and impulsive, especially after the move above 1.4000. However, recent candles show more sideways movement near the highs, suggesting that the market is taking a pause.
Volatility has also started to compress slightly around 1.4180–1.4250. This could lead to either a breakout continuation or a short-term corrective move, depending on which side of the range breaks first.
7. Bullish Factors
The first bullish factor is that USD/CAD remains above the previous breakout zone and continues to hold near the recent highs.
The second positive sign is that the price has not made a meaningful lower low yet. This means the bullish structure is still intact.
The third factor is that buyers are defending the 1.4160–1.4130 area. As long as this support holds, the market may continue preparing for another upside attempt.
A confirmed breakout above 1.4250 would be the strongest bullish signal.
8. Bearish Risks
The main bearish risk is that price is currently struggling near the 1.4230–1.4250 resistance zone.
If buyers fail to break above this area, short-term profit-taking may appear. A break below 1.4130 would weaken the current consolidation structure, while a deeper move below 1.4050–1.4000 would suggest that the rally is losing strength.
The pair is still bullish, but it may be slightly stretched in the short term.
9. Bullish Scenario
If USD/CAD holds above 1.4160–1.4130 and breaks above 1.4230–1.4250 with confirmation, buyers may push the price toward 1.4300–1.4350.
If momentum remains strong and price holds above 1.4350, the next upside target would be 1.4400.
A sustained move above 1.4400 would confirm a stronger bullish continuation structure.
10. Bearish Scenario
If USD/CAD rejects from 1.4230–1.4250, short-term pullback pressure may increase.
A break below 1.4130 could send the price toward 1.4100–1.4050. If the pair breaks below 1.4000, the bullish structure would weaken more clearly, and a broader correction could begin.
11. Market Sentiment
Market sentiment is currently bullish but slightly cautious near resistance.
The broader structure still favors buyers, but the market is now sitting near an important resistance zone. This means confirmation is important.
Above 1.4250, bullish momentum may strengthen.
Below 1.4130, short-term correction pressure may increase.
12. Trading Plan Style Summary
Plan:
* Above 1.4250: bullish continuation may strengthen.
* Between 1.4130 and 1.4250: consolidation may continue.
* Below 1.4130: short-term pullback risk may increase.
* Below 1.4000: the bullish structure may weaken.
The key level to watch is 1.4250. A breakout above this zone may decide whether USD/CAD can extend the rally toward 1.4350–1.4400.
What do you think?
Will USD/CAD break above 1.4250 and continue toward 1.4350–1.4400? Or will sellers defend the resistance zone and push the pair back toward 1.4100?

Trump proposes Canada to become the 51st stateOn February 1 , Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, along with 10% tariffs on Chinese goods. In response, Canada announced retaliatory tariffs of 25% on $155 billion worth of U.S. goods, with an initial phase of $30 billion taking effect on February 4. Mexico also implemented counter-tariffs. Trump reaffirmed his intention to impose tariffs on European imports but did not specify the details.
On February 2 , Trump stated that if Canada wants to avoid tariffs and taxes, it should become the 51st state of the United States. He argued that the U.S. should not be subsidizing Canada with hundreds of billions of dollars, as the country does not rely on Canadian resources. According to Trump, the U.S. has “unlimited energy resources,” sufficient timber supplies, and a growing domestic automobile industry. He added that without U.S. subsidies, Canada would struggle to remain economically viable, whereas joining the U.S. would provide lower taxes, better military protection, and exemption from tariffs.
On February 3 , during the European session, the following market trends were observed:
U.S. stock futures declined by 1.5–2.5%. The U.S. Dollar Index rose 1%, reaching 109.50. EUR/USD opened with a major bearish gap, dropping to 1.0210, losing over 1%.
GBP/USD fell below 1.2250 due to dollar strength.
In Australia, December retail sales fell by 0.1%, which was better than expected but failed to support the AUD. As a result, AUD/USD dropped 1.2%, falling below 0.6100.
USD/CAD surged significantly to 1.4792, the highest level since 2003.
USD/MXN hit 21.2882, marking a three-year high.
After reaching a record $2,800 on Friday, gold corrected lower on Monday, trading below $2,775.
USD/CAD Price Action: CAD Hits Record Lows Against US DollarRecent developments have significantly impacted the USD/CAD pair, pushing it above 1.4200, marking the Canadian dollar's lowest level against the US dollar since March 2020. This decline is driven by the recent resignation of Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, sparking political and economic uncertainty amid ongoing tariff policy disputes with the US. The Bank of Canada's decision to lower its key interest rate by 50 basis points to 3.25%, following weak GDP growth data, has further pressured the CAD. Despite stronger-than-anticipated consumer spending, the BoC has signaled a pause on aggressive future rate cuts, leaving room for potential economic adjustments in response to growth and inflation challenges. Meanwhile, the US Federal Reserve's optimistic outlook on inflation and a robust labor market points to a cautious approach on rate cuts, supporting the dollar's strength. As uncertainties surrounding US tariffs and economic data unfold, traders should closely monitor these developments to anticipate further USD/CAD movements and make informed trading decisions.
USDCAD!!! -- 2 BIRDS W/ONE STONE 🐦🐦USDCAD sell trade is to fill the wick of yesterday's daily candle, which closed bearish. Also noted was a false break below 1.36112, which is where our 2nd trade (add-on) would be initiated. With a 1.3545 target, that would bring our total trade to +5.5%. Good luck!
~ Happy Trading, Cheers! 💰

CADDY LONG LEGSOn the daily tf, just about an hour before the US Session. We have caddy showing us a potential Long leg to the upside that we can expect to reach over the next few weeks.
Reason behind this is that market structure wise the pair is up trending, over the last week we made a strong bearish leg however it was not strong enough to break structure on the previous lows at 1.2300. From this if we manage to sustain 1.25 thus forming a higher swing low we can expect cad to launch all the way to 1.3100.
