Solana (SOL) - Machine Payments Protocol - 24 March 2026

Less than 1 min read

Solana has been integrated into the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) by Stripe and Tempo, enabling APIs using the @solana/mpp SDK to accept any Solana-based stablecoin (SPL or Token2022) as a payment rail, as outlined in Solana’s official announcement (source). This makes Solana a backend settlement layer for automated and machine-native payments, potentially spanning IoT, AI agents, and recurring microtransactions. If MPP gains adoption, this could drive sustained transaction volume and stablecoin float on Solana, increasing demand for SOL to pay network fees. It also reinforces the chain’s positioning in real-time payments infrastructure, which can be a strong narrative driver during periods of renewed interest in real-world crypto use cases.

Solana now supports the Machine Payments Protocol @mpp by @stripe and @tempo.

If you're building an API that needs to accept payments, @solana/mpp SDK handles any stablecoin on Solana (Spl, Token2022).

If you’re already building with MPP, Solana is now a supported payment rail.… pic.twitter.com/3kRFLOHebN
