Daimler Truck and Arquus to modernise French army's logistics truck fleet

Germany's Daimler Truck DTG, one of the world's biggest truckmakers, said on Thursday that it would cooperate with French military vehicle manufacturer Arquus on modernising the French army's fleet of logistics trucks.

The partnership includes joint vehicle development, production, sales and services in the area of military wheeled vehicles, Daimler Truck said in a statement.

The news is the latest sign of growing interest by German automotive companies in the defence sector.

Earlier, German car parts maker Schaeffler SHA0 said it was considering entering the defence sector, while Volkswagen VOW met with Rheinmetall RHM to discuss the potential for further cooperation.
