Romania's jobless rate rises to 5.6% in Dec

BUCHAREST (Romania), February 1 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate rose to 5.6% in December, from 5.4% in November, the statistical office said on Wednesday, citing provisional data.

When compared to December 2021, Romania's jobless rate was 0.1 percentage points lower, the statistical office, INS, said in a monthly report.

There were 461,900 unemployed in December, as compared to 447,700 in November and 472,000 in December 2021.

The jobless rate among women was 5.2% versus 5.9% among men in December 2022.

The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.4%. Adults aged 25 to 74 who were without a job in December represented 73.6% of all unemployed people.

Romania's workforce is estimated at about 8.18 million out of a population of some 19.05 million, according to latest data.
