Russian real wages growth slows to 4.2% in May

Growth in real wages in Russia slowed to 4.2% year-on-year in May, following a 4.6% increase in the previous month, the statistics service said on Wednesday.

Analysts polled by Reuters had anticipated that real wages, adjusted for inflation, would rise by 3.3%.

Average monthly nominal wages earned by Russians increased 14.5% year-on-year to 99,422 roubles ($1,227.43).

According to Rosstat, in the first five months of the year real wages rose 3.8%, while nominal wages increased 14.3% compared with the same period in 2024.
