Kazakhstan's Kazmunaygaz dismisses reports on possible purchase of Lukoil's stake in Karachaganak project

Kazmunaygaz 442AC, Kazakhstan's state-owned oil and gas company, said on Tuesday that media reports that it could buy Lukoil's LKOH stake in the Karachaganak project were incorrect.

Russian state media on Monday cited the head of Kazmunaygaz as saying the company was in talks about Lukoil's assets in Kazakhstan.

However, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said that Kazakhstan's government was not holding talks with the Russian oil major about buying the company's Kazakh assets.
