BTCUSD soared more than 12% in a charged weekend rally, hitting a two-week high of just under $63,000, up from a Friday low of $56,600 per token. A failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump over the weekend nearly wrecked the bright prospects of digital assets under another four years of Trump in the White House. The former President, who got his ear pierced by a bullet at a campaign rally on Saturday, has been a vocal supporter of Bitcoin in recent weeks.
- On a few occasions in the past couple months, he has reiterated his bullish stance on Bitcoin and the broader market, urging legislators to introduce crypto-friendly guard rails that will lower the entry barrier to individuals and institutional investors. “I will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto, and we will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in America,” Trump said last month, adding that he wants all remaining Bitcoin to be “MADE IN THE USA!!!”
- A Trump victory in the upcoming election appears to already be getting priced in across digital assets. Trump’s pro-crypto stance is luring in the younger voters in the US who have been dabbling in the novel asset class and waiting for better access to it. To this end, Trump is set to attend the annual Bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee on July 27. His comments will be closely observed and may even influence crypto prices.
