Institutional-grade order flow analysis built for crypto and equity day traders. The Delta Flow Engine estimates volume delta — the net buying vs selling pressure on each bar — directly from standard OHLCV data, bringing professional order flow concepts to any TradingView chart without requiring a separate data feed.

What It Does

This indicator answers the question retail volume bars cannot: who is in control right now — buyers or sellers? It breaks volume into estimated buying and selling components, tracks the cumulative balance over time, and flags the specific bar-level events that institutional flow analysis relies on.

Core Components

Volume Delta Histogram

• Estimates net buying or selling pressure per bar using two selectable methods
• Close Position maps the bar's close within its high-low range
• Wick-Adjusted blends close position with wick pressure analysis, tuned for crypto's long-wick environment
• Four-shade gradient coloring shows whether flow momentum is increasing or fading in each direction

Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD)

• Running total of all per-bar deltas showing who has aggregate control over time
• Signal line crossover system for trend identification
• Cloud fill between CVD and its signal for instant visual read

Delta Momentum

• Longer-period EMA of raw delta showing the underlying trend of buying and selling pressure
• Zero-line crosses mark significant momentum shifts

CVD Divergence Scanner

• Automatically detects when price makes a higher high but CVD makes a lower high (bearish divergence) or when price makes a lower low but CVD makes a higher low (bullish divergence)
• Divergence detection uses raw CVD internally for accuracy regardless of display mode
• Dashed lines connect the pivot points directly on the CVD plot when enabled
• Configurable pivot lookback and maximum bar distance between pivots

Absorption Detection

• Identifies candles where volume is elevated but the body is unusually small relative to the full range
• This pattern suggests institutional participants absorbing opposing pressure without allowing price to move
• Wick direction determines whether the absorption is classified as bullish or bearish
• Adjustable volume threshold and body-to-range ratio

Climactic Volume Detection

• Flags extreme volume spikes that exceed a configurable multiple of the average
• These bars often appear at exhaustion points where one side has overextended

Dashboard

• Real-time panel showing Delta direction, Momentum state, CVD vs Signal position, and a composite Pressure rating from Strong Buy through Neutral to Strong Sell

Regime Background

• Subtle green or red tint appears when delta momentum and CVD alignment agree, providing immediate visual context for the dominant flow regime

How To Use It

Add the Delta Flow Engine below your price chart. It pairs naturally with any structure, order block, or confluence indicator on the main chart. When your chart-level setup aligns with a CVD divergence, absorption event, or momentum shift on the Delta Flow Engine, the confluence between price structure and underlying order flow strengthens the read.

The Auto-Scale display mode is recommended for most users. It keeps the histogram, momentum line, and CVD visually balanced in the same pane without manual adjustment.
