sorry for the dumb qn but why only first 5min of the session? why not 10 min or 1st hour?

hm I always thought they use the first two 30 min candles highs and lows - not 5 minutes. or did is it just your preference? there is btw a lot of indicators called "opening range" which basically is kind of the same as IB i guess ;)
