@spacetrader, breakouts on those seem to work well short range. also convergence of the peaks usually suggests where the volume spike will occur, usually when the lines connecting tops cross zero.

@spacetrader, Volume is measured in whatever you buy with. so for BTCUSD it's measured in USD. for ALT-BTC pair it's measured in BTC
