RSI cyclic smoothed

Euro Fx/U.S. DollarFXCM

Description

Cyclic Smoothed Relative Strength Indicator

The cyclic smoothed RSI indicator is an enhancement of the classic RSI, adding
* additional smoothing according to the market vibration,
* adaptive upper and lower bands according to the cyclic memory and
* using the current dominant cycle length as input for the indicator.

The cRSI is used like a standard indicator. The chart highlights trading signals where the signal line crosses above or below the adaptive lower/upper bands. It is much more responsive to market moves than the basic RSI:

The indicator uses the dominant cycle as input to optimize signal, smoothing and cyclic memory. The referenced book provides open indicator source code, indicator characteristics, trading performance and how to obtain the current dominant market cycle. The get more in-depth information on the cyclic-smoothed RSI indicator, please read Chapter 4 "Fine tuning technical indicators" of the book "Decoding the Hidden Market Rhythm" available at Amazon .

@Whentotrade Interesting ! I'll give a try. what would be a good parameter for the dominant cycle, compared with standard 14 used to RSI...

Elaborate funnel to buy sotware, without the software to determine cycle, it is pretty useless.

Love the indicator..... I would like to make a mod, but don't know how to program. If someone happens to see this and can program, I would like to add lines from the bottom level-line to the top level-line on a 40-degree angle. Thank you WhenToTrade for making this available.

Thanks for your contribution, would you have the link to the cyclic smoothed RSI strategy? Why I searched for what I didn't find.

Based on your great feedback, I decided to open up the code for this indicator. I posted it as "RSI cyclic smoothed v2" in the script catalog with open code:
