Wickless Impulse Zones

Qualifying candles are converted into chart zones with internal reference levels. The indicator can also project wickless-side price levels from the chart timeframe or confirmed higher timeframes using horizontal rays.
The indicator is designed as a price-action and relative-volume reference tool. It does not predict future price movement and does not use order-book, bid/ask, footprint or trade-direction data.
HOW IT WORKS
A candle qualifies as wickless when either of the following conditions is present.
Bullish wickless candle:
The candle closes above its open and its low is exactly equal to its open. The candle therefore has no lower wick.
Bearish wickless candle:
The candle closes below its open and its high is exactly equal to its open. The candle therefore has no upper wick.
The script then compares the candle's volume with a simple moving average of volume.
Four configurable relative-volume classifications are available.
Loose:
Volume must exceed the selected Loose volume multiplier multiplied by the Loose volume moving average.
Default:
20-bar volume average
2.0x multiplier
Moderate:
Volume must exceed the selected Moderate volume multiplier multiplied by the Moderate volume moving average.
Default:
10-bar volume average
3.5x multiplier
Strong:
Volume must exceed the selected Strong volume multiplier multiplied by the Strong volume moving average.
Default:
5-bar volume average
5.0x multiplier
Extreme:
Volume must exceed the selected Extreme volume multiplier multiplied by the Extreme volume moving average and must also exceed the Strong relative-volume threshold.
Default:
20-bar volume average
6.0x multiplier
Loose, Moderate, Strong and Extreme are internal relative-volume classifications only.
They do not represent probabilities, accuracy ratings, expected win rates or guarantees of future price behaviour.
CLASS PRIORITY
A candle can mathematically satisfy more than one volume condition.
To prevent several overlapping zones from being created from the same candle, the indicator applies the following priority:
Extreme
Strong
Moderate
Loose
Only the highest qualifying enabled class is used for the final zone.
ZONE STRUCTURE
A confirmed qualifying candle creates a rectangle covering the complete high-to-low range of the candle.
The Rectangle Length setting controls how many bars the zone extends to the right.
A midpoint line is drawn at 50% of the candle range.
A second quarter reference line is also available and is enabled by default.
For bullish wickless candles, this level is positioned 25% of the distance from the candle low toward the midpoint.
For bearish wickless candles, it is positioned 25% of the distance from the candle high toward the midpoint.
The quarter line can be disabled from the settings.
Zone colour, fill transparency, border thickness and line style can also be configured.
MULTI-TIMEFRAME RAYS
The indicator includes three configurable ray timeframes.
All three ray timeframes are enabled by default and can be individually disabled or changed.
The default ray timeframes are:
Ray Timeframe 1:
15 minutes
Ray Timeframe 2:
60 minutes
Ray Timeframe 3:
240 minutes
Ray timeframes are intended to be equal to or higher than the current chart timeframe.
If a selected ray timeframe is lower than the chart timeframe, that ray source is ignored.
Higher-timeframe rays use the previous completed candle from the selected source timeframe.
This prevents an unfinished higher-timeframe candle from being treated as a confirmed source.
Because the source candle must close first, higher-timeframe rays can appear later than the historical candle from which the level is derived.
RAY LEVELS
The ray is projected from the wickless side of the qualifying candle.
Bullish wickless candle:
The ray level is the candle low/open price.
Bearish wickless candle:
The ray level is the candle high/open price.
If the selected ray timeframe matches the current chart timeframe, the local confirmed zone logic is used.
When Extend Rays Right is enabled, the ray continues indefinitely to the right.
When it is disabled, only a short line segment is drawn from the ray's starting point.
Maximum Rays To Keep controls how many recent rays are retained independently for each timeframe.
The optional Ray Lookback Filter can restrict displayed rays to a selected historical time window.
CONFIRMATION AND HISTORICAL PLACEMENT
The visible chart zones use completed candles for confirmation.
A qualifying candle is confirmed on the following chart bar.
The resulting zone is then visually anchored back to the qualifying candle so that the rectangle remains aligned with the candle that created it.
This means the historical rectangle begins on the source candle even though the confirmed zone became available only after that candle had closed.
The script does not use pivot calculations or future price data to create the zones.
TIMEFRAME FILTER
The Timeframe Filter allows the complete indicator to be disabled on selected chart timeframes.
When the current chart timeframe matches one of the disabled timeframe inputs, zone drawing, ray drawing and script alert conditions are disabled.
The default configuration disables the indicator on the 1-minute and 5-minute chart timeframes.
These settings can be changed or cleared if the indicator is required on those timeframes.
HOW TO USE
Start by selecting which relative-volume classes you want to monitor.
Loose has the least restrictive default volume requirement.
Moderate, Strong and Extreme apply progressively different volume conditions, although each class uses its own configurable volume-average length and multiplier.
Because the classifications use different lookback periods, they should be treated as separate analytical classifications rather than a simple numerical strength scale.
The zone rectangle identifies the complete range of the qualifying candle.
The midpoint and quarter line provide fixed reference prices inside that original candle range.
These levels can be used to observe how later price action behaves when returning to different parts of the source candle.
The three ray timeframes provide additional context by projecting wickless-side levels from confirmed candles on other timeframes.
For example, a trader can monitor local chart zones while simultaneously viewing confirmed wickless reference levels from 15-minute, 1-hour and 4-hour charts.
The rays are reference levels.
They are not automatic entries, targets or guaranteed support/resistance levels.
Their purpose is to make previously detected wickless and elevated-volume candle levels easier to monitor as price develops.
ALERTS
Two types of chart-timeframe alerts are available.
Signal Detected alerts evaluate the currently forming chart candle.
Because high, low and volume can change before the candle closes, the condition can appear, disappear or change classification while the realtime candle is forming.
For users who want closed-candle confirmation, the TradingView alert can be configured to trigger Once Per Bar Close.
Drawn alerts use the previous completed chart candle.
These correspond to the confirmed classification used when the rectangle is created.
Alert classification follows the same priority used by the visual zones:
Extreme
Strong
Moderate
Loose
The supplied alert conditions apply to chart-timeframe zone detection.
The optional multi-timeframe ray events do not have separate ray alert conditions.
LIMITATIONS
Wickless detection uses exact OHLC equality.
A bullish candle requires low = open.
A bearish candle requires high = open.
Results can therefore differ between symbols, brokers, exchanges and data feeds because of price precision and data construction.
The script uses the volume series supplied by the chart's data source.
Volume characteristics and availability can differ substantially between markets and exchanges.
The indicator uses OHLCV chart data only.
It does not have access to the order book, true bid/ask delta, individual trade direction or institutional order-flow information.
Loose, Moderate, Strong and Extreme describe internal relative-volume conditions.
They do not measure trade probability, expected profitability or future accuracy.
A wickless elevated-volume candle or ray does not guarantee that price will revisit, respect, reject or reverse from that area.
Signal Detected alerts can change while the realtime candle is forming unless bar-close confirmation is used.
Higher-timeframe rays intentionally wait for completed source-timeframe candles, so they can appear later than calculations based on still-forming higher-timeframe data.
Historical rectangles are visually anchored to their source candle after confirmation and therefore appear on the candle that generated the zone even though confirmation occurs one bar later.
Historical drawings are subject to TradingView drawing-object limits, so very old objects may eventually no longer be retained.
The indicator does not perform trade execution, position sizing or Strategy Tester simulation and does not model commissions, spread, slippage, liquidity or execution sequencing.
ORIGINAL IMPLEMENTATION
Wickless Impulse Zones uses a connected detection and visualization process rather than simply placing unrelated indicators together.
The workflow combines directional wickless candle structure, configurable relative-volume classifications, an exclusive classification hierarchy, candle-range zone construction, midpoint and quarter reference levels, confirmed multi-timeframe wickless-side rays, independent ray retention controls and timeframe-specific display filtering.
These components work together to convert a specific candle-and-volume event into local and multi-timeframe price reference levels that can be monitored as subsequent price action develops.
