Indicator: STARC Bands

STARC (Stoller Average Range Channels) bands make use of ATR to form the bands, giving it a more in-depth snapshot of market volatility compared to Bollinger Bands .

When a price curve penetrates a Bollinger Band , it may indicate the continuation of a price move; in contrast, the STARC bands tend to define upper and lower limits for normal price action.

I would love to trade using STARC bands. How do I do the above? Is it the formula for STARC bands? It is Greek to me! Could you help me with a bit more explanation. I am not familiar with all the jargon above.

This Stoller Average Range Channel (Starc) implementation is great, the center mid dot fits in nice to lead the eye. The late Manning Stoller had a good idea when he came up with it -that double ATR sure points up exhaustion perfectly for a lot of price movement. Often make my options trades without much reference to the chart but I love playing with indicators. Came across Starc again the other day and thought to make one then found this again. Thanks again for a good job and keep smiling!

Good one! Have used Keltner and Bollinger together same period modified height (would have to look, think it was BB 2 KC 1.5) to visualize squeeze release. Use that only as a dial up template (barchart) to check prefer minimum overlays. Your stuff gives me ideas that are fun to pursue. Thanks and keep smiling!

Click on the "Share" button on my chart (right top -- looks like an arrow). A dialog box opens up. Click on "Make mine". You will get a copy of my published chart. It has the source code. (click in "{}" icon next to the name of the indicator).

Third, and hope last comment -- I just check Keltner channel with

Length = 8
Multiplyer = 2
Exponential = x

and the result is very close to STARC.

Regarding the strategy buying the lower band and selling the upper is considered lousy by people working with Keltner. At least in the simplest form. That's what I heard from traders.

Anyways, fascinated with your research and appreciate it.
