The Magnet ModelThe Magnet Model โ Opening Range Volume Profile
The Magnet Model ORVP is designed to turn the opening auction into a simple, repeatable map of where volume established value and where those levels may continue to matter throughout the trading session. It will automatically map the key volume-based levels established during New York opening range.
Instead of manually drawing a Fixed Range Volume Profile each morning, the indicator automatically builds the opening profile and identifies the Point of Control (POC), Value Area High (VAH), and Value Area Low (VAL). Once the opening range is complete, these levels extend to the right, allowing traders to monitor how price interacts with them throughout the session.
Key Features
Automatic 9:30โ9:46 AM New York Opening Range Volume Profile
Automatically calculates VAH, POC, and VAL
70% Value Area by default
VAH, POC, and VAL automatically extend to the right
Shaded Value Area between VAH and VAL for quick visual reference
Current ORVP is highlighted pink
Previous ORVP zones can use different colors to distinguish sessions
Adjustable number of historical ORVPs displayed
Clean date labels such as 8/31 ORVP
Adjustable profile rows and profile width
Customizable colors, line widths, and line styles
Optional Overlap Detection Deletion to automatically remove older ORVP zones that overlap the newest value area
Designed to maintain a clean chart while preserving important historical opening-range levels
How It Can Be Used
The ORVP provides a structured framework for evaluating the market after the opening range has formed.
VAH, VAL, and POC can serve as important areas to monitor for:
Acceptance and rejection
Support and resistance
Breakouts and failed breakouts
Retests
Potential price magnets
Continuation or reversal opportunities
Historical ORVP levels can also remain on the chart, allowing traders to identify when price returns to areas of value established during previous sessions.
Best Used With Confluence
While The Magnet Model ORVP is powerful on its own, it can become even more effective when combined with other high-quality market references and confirmation tools.
Consider looking for confluence with VWAP, Simple Moving Averages (SMAs), Initial Balance (IB), key session levels, and order flow.
Some of the strongest areas of interest can develop when multiple independent levels or signals align with an ORVP VAH, VAL, or POC, providing additional context for potential support, resistance, acceptance, rejection, and directional movement.
The goal is not to trade an ORVP level blindly, but to use it as part of a broader framework of confluence.
Overlap Detection
When Overlap Detection Deletion is enabled, the indicator compares each newly completed value area with older ORVP zones.
If an older VAH-to-VAL value area overlaps the newest value area, the older profile is automatically removed.
This optional feature helps reduce chart clutter and keeps the focus on distinct opening-range value areas.
Default Configuration

Best ORB Strategy Detector + Entry FinderBest ORB Detector + Entry Finder
An Opening Range Breakout (ORB) indicator focused on one thing: find the opening range, catch the break, and manage the trade with clear entry, stop, and targets.
Most ORB tools only draw two lines and leave the rest to you. This one goes further โ session selection, a single clean ORB stage, breakout/retest logic, optional filters, and full trade management on the chart.
The idea is simple: the first minutes of a session often define support and resistance for the day. When price breaks that range with conviction, moves can travel. When it breaks without conviction, they fail. This script helps you see both.
Built by the Xcelerate Trade team.
What makes it different
One ORB at a time
Instead of stacking four ranges on the chart, you pick one stage: ORB 5M, 15M, 30M, or 60M. Cleaner chart, clearer plan.
Session-aware
Choose Asia, London, or New York. The opening range is built from that sessionโs start โ not a generic โmarket openโ that may not match how you trade.
Entry the way you actually trade
Breakout โ enter after the range breaks
Retest + Rejection โ wait for price to come back to the ORB level, reject, then enter
Both โ allow either path
This matches how many discretionary ORB traders work: the break is the alert, the retest is often the entry.
Trade management built in
When a setup triggers, you get entry, classic ORB stop (beyond the opposite side of the range, with optional buffer), and take-profit levels from 1R to 6R. Lines extend forward until stop or the last enabled target is hit.
Optional quality filters
Volume and FVG filters are available and off by default, so you start with raw price action and tighten only when you need fewer, cleaner signals.
Core features
1. ORB stages (pick one)
ORB 5M โ fastest, more noise
ORB 15M โ balanced, most common day-trading window
ORB 30M โ slower, more confirmed
ORB 60M โ slowest, strongest filter
During the window, the script tracks high and low. When the window completes, those levels become your ORB high and low.
2. Breakout detection
Labels appear when price closes outside the range (body close or wick, depending on your setting). Signals are confirmed on close โ no repainting.
3. Retest and cycle tracking
After a breakout, if price returns to the ORB level, you can get a retest label. Useful if you missed the first move, or if you wait for retest entries by design.
Signal mode: First Only (cleaner) or Track Cycles (breakout โ retest โ re-break).
4. Failed / weak breaks
Settings like breakout buffer, min bars outside, and min distance for retest help filter tiny wiggles and half-hearted breaks.
5. TP / SL lines
Entry
Stop (classic ORB stop + buffer %)
TP1 (1R) through TP6 (6R)
Enable only the targets you use. When the last enabled TP or the stop is hit, lines freeze.
6. Info panel
Bottom-left dashboard with active ORB, range size, volatility, volume status (when the filter is on), ORB status, and the live setup (entry / stop / TPs / R:R). Panel size and theme are adjustable.
Volume filter
Many ORB fakeouts happen on thin volume. When Enable Volume Filter is on, a breakout needs volume confirmation.
Modes:
Increasing โ breakout bar volume higher than the previous bar (Academy-style โvolume in expansionโ)
Above Average โ volume at least X times the volume MA
Both โ stricter: rising and above average
Use this on stocks and futures where volume is meaningful. On some CFDs, volume can be weak or synthetic โ if signals disappear, turn the filter off or loosen the mode.
FVG filter (Fair Value Gap)
FVGs are short inefficiencies left by strong momentum candles. When Enable FVG Filter is on, breakouts are preferred when they interact with a nearby gap. You can also Show FVG Boxes without forcing the filter, just for context.
Why it helps: breaks through an FVG often carry more follow-through than breaks into empty air.
FVG Proximity controls how close the gap must be to count.
Start without FVG. Add it when you want fewer, higher-conviction setups.
How to use it
Simple start
Chart: 5m or 15m on a liquid symbol
Select Session (e.g. New York)
Select ORB (e.g. ORB 15M)
Leave filters off at first
Watch breakout / retest labels and the dashboard for entry, stop, and targets
Tighter setup
Entry Mode = Retest + Rejection
Volume Filter = Increasing or Both
FVG Filter on if you want institutional-style confirmation
Enable the TPs you actually take (many traders use TP1 + TP2, and leave TP3โTP6 for runners)
Suggested take-profit approach
Conservative: full exit at TP1
Balanced: partial at TP1, rest at TP2
Aggressive: trail toward TP3โTP6 on strong trend days
After TP1, many traders move stop to breakeven.
Tips
ORB works best on liquid instruments during the real session
The first hour matters most โ that is when the range forms and the first breaks appear
Not every day is an ORB day; skip chop
Filters reduce noise but also reduce frequency โ adjust to your style
Always use a stop; the R-multiple targets only make sense if risk is defined
Limitations
Intraday tool โ not meant for daily/weekly charts
Needs a clear session definition
Can still false-break in ranges; filters help but do not remove risk
Volume quality depends on the symbol/feed
Indicator = decision aid, not a fully automated strategy
FAQ (short)
Why no signals? Check timeframe (intraday), session hours, breakout detection on, and whether filters are blocking you.
Best ORB stage? ORB 15M is a good default. 5M is faster/noisier; 30M/60M are slower/cleaner.
Should I enable all filters? No. Start clean, then add Volume first, then FVG if you still want fewer trades.
First Only vs Track Cycles? First Only = one main idea per direction. Track Cycles = more opportunities, busier chart.

ORB Detector DynamicORB Detector Dynamic
OVERVIEW
ORB Detector Dynamic is an Opening Range Breakout (ORB) visualization tool for Asia, London, and New York sessions.
It builds and locks the opening-range high and low for a selected session window, keeps session labels on history, and marks breakouts only after the range is locked โ not while the range is still forming.
Built by the Xcelerate Trade team.
CONCEPT
An Opening Range Breakout uses the high and low of a defined window after a session open (for example the first 5, 15, or 30 minutes).
Once that window closes, the range is treated as locked. Breaks of the locked high or low can then be used as timing context together with broader session and structure tools.
HOW IT WORKS
1) Choose one session: Asia, London, or New York
2) Set the ORB window times in Inputs (Eastern Time โ America/New_York; editable)
3) During the window, the script updates ORB High and ORB Low
4) When the window closes, the range locks and the label stops showing โformingโ
5) Breakout conditions are evaluated only after lock, until the next ORB window starts
6) One breakout flag per direction per session (no repeated spam)
Default ORB windows (EST / America/New_York):
โข Asia โ 19:00โ19:15
โข London โ 03:00โ03:15
โข New York โ 09:30โ09:45
Change start and end times in Inputs to match your ORB length (5 / 15 / 30 minutes). If you change ORB Timeframe, also adjust the session end time.
FEATURES
โข ORB High / ORB Low levels (Style colors editable; defaults blue)
โข Session labels on history (example: โNY ORB 15mโ, โAsia ORB 15mโ)
โข โformingโ label text while the window is still open
โข Breakout flash (background highlight on first break โ on by default)
โข Optional breakout arrows in Style (off by default)
โข Alerts:
โ ORB Session Start
โ ORB Range Locked
โ ORB High Breakout (after range)
โ ORB Low Breakdown (after range)
HOW TO USE
1) Add the indicator and select the session you trade
2) Confirm ORB Timeframe and session start/end match your playbook
3) Wait until the label no longer says โformingโ (range locked)
4) Use a clean break of ORB High as long bias context, or ORB Low as short bias context
5) Prefer confluence with session boxes and higher-timeframe structure before acting
6) Recommended chart timeframe: same as the ORB window or lower (example: 1mโ15m for a 15m ORB)
Works well together with:
โข Xcelerate - Best Sessions - New York, London & Asia
โข Fluid Liquidity Zones - CHoCH + Mitigation + HTF | Xcelerate Trade
SKIP / AVOID
โข Trading breaks while the ORB window is still forming
โข Chop or news spikes that pierce both sides of the range
โข Entries with no session context and no higher-timeframe bias
LIMITATIONS
โข This script is a visualization and alert tool. It does not place trades and does not guarantee results.
โข Session times use America/New_York so DST is handled by TradingViewโs timezone engine; verify times for your market and broker.
โข On very low timeframes, noise and gaps can produce false or early breaks relative to your rules.
โข Always confirm with your own risk management and market context.

ORB Laboratory v1.0.12ORB LABORATORY v1.0.12
Opening Range Breakout Research & Backtesting Framework
ORB Laboratory is a modular Opening Range Breakout strategy designed for systematic research, backtesting, robustness testing, and experimentation across different markets, sessions, symbols, timeframes, execution assumptions, and ORB methodologies.
This is not a single hard-coded ORB strategy.
The purpose of ORB Laboratory is to provide a flexible environment where traders and researchers can isolate individual variables, compare different approaches to opening-range behavior, and test whether an idea remains viable under different conditions rather than relying on one fixed set of rules.
The script includes multiple ORB sessions, seven entry models, configurable breakout buffers, several confirmation methods, market-condition filters, multiple stop-loss and profit-target models, position sizing, trade-frequency controls, execution modeling, breakeven and trailing-stop management, forced exits, and visual/debugging tools.
1. MULTI-SESSION ORB ENGINE
ORB Laboratory supports up to three independent Opening Range windows:
โข ORB 1
โข ORB 2
โข ORB 3
Each ORB can be configured independently with:
โข Enable / Disable
โข Custom session name
โข Starting hour
โข Starting minute
โข ORB duration in minutes
โข Long trades enabled / disabled
โข Short trades enabled / disabled
This makes it possible to research multiple market opens or intraday expansion periods within the same strategy.
Examples could include:
โข New York open
โข London open
โข Secondary morning range
โข Later-session expansion
โข Crypto-specific session windows
โข Custom event-based time windows
ORB lengths can range from very short opening ranges to much longer windows.
The strategy continuously tracks the highest high and lowest low while an ORB is forming.
When the ORB finishes, the final:
โข ORB High
โข ORB Low
โข ORB Midpoint
are stored and projected forward on the chart.
The ORB is finalized on the close of the final range-building bar so resting breakout orders can be prepared before the first post-range bar begins.
The implementation also supports one-bar ORBs correctly.
2. STRATEGY TIME ZONE
The entire strategy uses a configurable strategy time zone.
This allows ORB sessions, entry cutoffs, forced closes, weekdays, and other time-sensitive logic to remain anchored to the desired market time regardless of the exchange or chart time zone.
Default:
America/New_York
3. DIRECTION CONTROL
Global direction can be set to:
โข Both
โข Long Only
โข Short Only
Each individual ORB also has independent Long and Short permissions.
This means direction can be controlled both globally and per session.
4. ENTRY ALLOWANCE / TRADE FREQUENCY
ORB Laboratory includes several trade-frequency modes:
ONE TOTAL
Only one entry may be taken from an ORB.
ONCE PER DIRECTION
Allows one long and one short opportunity per ORB.
MAXIMUM NUMBER
Allows a configurable maximum number of entries per ORB.
UNLIMITED
Removes the per-ORB entry restriction while remaining subject to other global limits.
Additional controls include:
โข Maximum entries per ORB
โข Maximum entries per day
โข Stop trading after first winning trade
โข Stop trading after first losing trade
โข Maximum planned daily risk
These tools make it possible to research whether an ORB performs better as a single-shot setup, one trade per direction, or as a multi-entry strategy.
5. ENTRY MODEL โ BREAKOUT (TOUCH)
Breakout (Touch) is designed to model a traditional stop-order breakout.
After the ORB is complete, resting stop entries are prepared at:
Long:
ORB High + Long Breakout Buffer
Short:
ORB Low - Short Breakout Buffer
The entry can therefore occur when price touches the breakout threshold rather than waiting for a candle close.
The strategy uses resting stop orders for this mode.
Long and short breakout orders are placed into an OCA cancellation group.
When one side fills, competing unfilled breakout orders are cancelled.
This allows the strategy to model a two-sided opening-range breakout where both directions may initially be armed but only the triggered side remains active.
Unfilled Breakout (Touch) orders are also cancelled when the configured entry cutoff is reached.
6. ENTRY MODEL โ BREAKOUT (CLOSE)
Breakout (Close) requires confirmation from the candle close.
Long:
Candle closes above the ORB High + Long Breakout Buffer.
Short:
Candle closes below the ORB Low - Short Breakout Buffer.
This model is useful for comparing immediate touch-based breakout execution against the additional confirmation of a completed candle outside the range.
7. ENTRY MODEL โ BREAK + RETEST ORB
This model waits for a confirmed breakout and then looks for price to retest the broken ORB boundary.
After a breakout, the retest can be confirmed using one of three methods:
TOUCH ONLY
Price only needs to return to the broken ORB boundary.
CLOSE OUTSIDE
Price must retest the boundary and close back on the breakout side.
REJECTION CANDLE
Price must retest the boundary and produce directional rejection.
For a bullish retest, the candle must interact with the ORB High and confirm back above it.
For a bearish retest, the candle must interact with the ORB Low and confirm back below it.
Additional controls include:
โข Retest expiry in bars
โข Maximum extension before a retest is considered too late
Once a valid retest is consumed, the retest setup is disarmed.
8. ENTRY MODEL โ BREAK + RETEST FVG
ORB Laboratory includes directional Fair Value Gap detection following an ORB breakout.
A bullish FVG is detected when a three-candle imbalance exists with the current low above the high from two bars earlier.
A bearish FVG is detected when the current high is below the low from two bars earlier.
The minimum FVG size can be defined as an ATR multiple.
Optional logic can require the FVG to remain outside the ORB.
Three FVG entry depths are available:
NEAR EDGE
Uses the first edge of the FVG encountered on the retracement.
MIDPOINT
Uses the 50% level of the FVG.
FULL FILL
Requires price to reach the opposite edge of the FVG.
Additional controls include:
โข Minimum FVG size as ATR ร
โข FVG must remain outside ORB
โข FVG expiry in bars
If price reaches the selected FVG level while the setup is valid, an entry is submitted in the direction of the original breakout.
9. ENTRY MODEL โ SWEEP REVERSAL
Sweep Reversal is designed to research failed breaks of the opening range.
A high sweep occurs when price trades above:
ORB High + Long Breakout Buffer
but then closes back below the ORB High.
A low sweep occurs when price trades below:
ORB Low - Short Breakout Buffer
but then closes back above the ORB Low.
Two confirmation modes are available:
CLOSE BACK INSIDE
The breakout only needs to fail and close back inside the ORB.
REJECTION CANDLE
The failed breakout must also produce a directional rejection candle.
A failed high produces a potential short setup.
A failed low produces a potential long setup.
Sweep trades are treated as fade/reversal trades and can use dedicated fade-target logic.
10. ENTRY MODEL โ FADE FIRST BREAKOUT
This model records which side of the ORB breaks first.
The strategy permanently tracks:
โข First breakout direction
โข First breakout bar
โข Maximum extension reached by that breakout
If the first breakout subsequently fails and closes back inside the ORB within the configured failure window, the strategy can fade that failed move.
First high breakout fails:
Potential short.
First low breakout fails:
Potential long.
The model also includes a Maximum Extension Before Retest/Fade setting.
This prevents an extremely extended move from later being treated as a normal failed breakout simply because price eventually returns to the range.
A configurable First-Break Failure Timeout controls how many bars the setup remains eligible.
11. ENTRY MODEL โ FIRST-BREAK DECISION TREE
The First-Break Decision Tree is a hybrid model that evaluates what happens after the first ORB break.
Instead of automatically assuming that the first breakout should either be followed or faded, the script waits to determine whether the move confirms continuation or fails.
The first breakout direction and extreme are recorded.
Continuation can then be defined as:
TOUCH
Price reaches the breakout threshold.
CLOSE OUTSIDE
Price closes outside the ORB in the breakout direction.
RETEST HOLDS
Price retests the broken boundary and closes back on the breakout side.
If continuation confirms, the strategy trades in the direction of the original breakout.
If the first breakout instead fails and closes back inside the ORB during the allowed failure window, the strategy can reverse and trade against the failed breakout.
This allows a single model to test both:
โข Breakout continuation
โข Failed-break reversal
using the first interaction with the opening range as the decision point.
12. BREAKOUT BUFFER SYSTEM
Long and short breakout buffers are independently configurable.
Buffers can be expressed using:
TICKS
Buffer is based on the symbol's minimum tick size.
ORB %
Buffer is calculated as a percentage of the completed ORB range.
ATR
Buffer is calculated as a multiple of ATR.
This allows breakout confirmation to be normalized in several different ways.
For example, researchers can test whether a fixed one-tick breakout behaves differently from a volatility-adjusted or range-adjusted breakout.
13. BID / ASK TRIGGER MODEL
Breakout (Touch) includes an optional bid/ask trigger-timing model.
Application can be set to:
โข Off
โข Longs Only
โข Shorts Only
โข Both
Spread can be entered as:
โข Ticks
โข Absolute price
The model allows the visible TradingView trigger to be shifted relative to the intended execution level.
For example, on a bid-based chart, a long ask-trigger may occur while the visible bid remains one spread below the intended buy price.
The model therefore allows researchers to approximate the difference between:
โข Structural/intended execution level
โข Visible chart trigger level
IMPORTANT:
TradingView Strategy Tester still records the chart-trigger price as the actual historical fill.
Because of this limitation, built-in Strategy Tester P&L remains an approximation when bid/ask trigger modeling is enabled.
The feature is intended for execution research and timing approximation, not as a claim of perfect historical bid/ask reconstruction.
14. BID / ASK STOP MODEL
ORB Laboratory separately includes a spread model for stop-loss triggering.
Application options include:
โข Off
โข Long Stops Only
โข Short Stops Only
โข Both
This allows the displayed TradingView stop trigger to be shifted relative to the structural stop by the modeled spread.
The structural stop itself is still retained internally for calculations when desired.
This makes the entry-side spread assumption and stop-side spread assumption independently configurable.
15. ENTRY CALCULATION PRICE
When spread modeling is active, Fixed-R calculations can use either:
CORRECTED ENTRY
Uses the intended execution level.
CHART TRIGGER
Uses the spread-shifted TradingView trigger.
This setting affects Fixed-R target calculations.
It does not independently change the actual submitted quantity or order execution.
16. STOP CALCULATION PRICE
Risk calculations can use either:
CORRECTED STOP
Uses the modeled spread-adjusted stop.
ORIGINAL STOP
Uses the underlying structural stop.
This selection can affect:
โข Position sizing
โข Original risk calculation
โข Fixed-R target calculations
This allows researchers to separate structural price levels from the levels used to approximate executable stop behavior.
17. EMA FILTER
An optional EMA directional filter is included.
The EMA length is configurable.
Available rules:
PRICE VS EMA
Long:
Price must be above the EMA.
Short:
Price must be below the EMA.
EMA SLOPE
Long:
EMA must be rising.
Short:
EMA must be falling.
BOTH
Requires both the appropriate price relationship and EMA slope.
When enabled, the EMA is also plotted on the chart.
18. VWAP FILTER
An optional VWAP directional filter is available.
Rules include:
PRICE VS VWAP
Long:
Price above VWAP.
Short:
Price below VWAP.
VWAP SLOPE
Long:
VWAP rising.
Short:
VWAP falling.
BOTH
Requires both conditions.
When enabled, VWAP is plotted directly on the chart.
19. PREVIOUS CLOSE FILTER
The script retrieves the confirmed previous daily close without lookahead.
Two filtering modes are available:
PRICE VS PREVIOUS CLOSE
Long:
Current price must be above the previous close.
Short:
Current price must be below the previous close.
ORB VS PREVIOUS CLOSE
Long:
The entire ORB must be above the previous close.
Short:
The entire ORB must be below the previous close.
20. ORB RANGE FILTER
A configurable minimum and maximum ORB range filter is included.
The ORB size can be measured in:
โข Ticks
โข ATR multiples
โข Percentage of price
This allows researchers to reject ranges that are considered:
โข Too small
โข Too large
โข Abnormally compressed
โข Abnormally volatile
It also makes range thresholds more portable across different symbols and volatility environments.
21. RELATIVE VOLUME FILTER
An optional relative-volume condition compares current volume with a moving average of volume.
Controls include:
โข Volume average length
โข Minimum relative-volume multiplier
A trade is permitted only when current volume meets or exceeds the selected multiple of average volume.
22. ADX FILTER
An optional ADX filter is included.
Controls:
โข ADX length
โข Minimum ADX value
This can be used to research whether ORB setups behave differently during stronger or weaker directional conditions.
23. MAXIMUM BREAKOUT CANDLE SIZE
The strategy can reject entry conditions when the current candle becomes excessively large relative to ATR.
Maximum breakout candle size is expressed as:
ATR ร multiplier
This can be used to study whether chasing unusually extended breakout candles damages expectancy.
24. STOP LOSS โ CANDLE EXTREME
For long trades:
Stop is placed below the relevant candle low, with an optional tick buffer.
For short trades:
Stop is placed above the relevant candle high, with an optional tick buffer.
25. STOP LOSS โ ATR
Places the stop a configurable ATR distance from the entry/reference price.
Long:
Entry/reference price - ATR ร multiplier
Short:
Entry/reference price + ATR ร multiplier
26. STOP LOSS โ ORB MIDPOINT
Uses the midpoint between the ORB High and ORB Low as the structural stop.
27. STOP LOSS โ ORB OPPOSITE RANGE
Long:
Stop below the ORB Low.
Short:
Stop above the ORB High.
An optional stop buffer in ticks can be applied beyond the opposite boundary.
28. STOP LOSS โ BREAKOUT EXTREME
Uses the relevant breakout extreme as the stop reference, with the optional stop buffer applied beyond that level.
This is useful for retest, failure, sweep, and other models where the breakout structure itself provides the invalidation point.
29. STOP LOSS โ ORB PERCENTAGE
Stop distance is calculated as a configurable percentage of the completed ORB range.
This allows the stop distance to scale directly with the size of the opening range.
30. STOP LOSS โ FVG INVALIDATION
Uses the relevant FVG boundary as the stop reference.
Long:
Below the FVG bottom.
Short:
Above the FVG top.
The configured stop buffer may also be applied.
31. STOP BUFFER
A configurable stop buffer can be added in ticks.
This allows the structural stop to sit beyond the selected invalidation level rather than directly on it.
32. PROFIT TARGET โ FIXED R
Profit target is calculated as a multiple of the original trade risk.
Long:
Entry + Risk ร R Multiple
Short:
Entry - Risk ร R Multiple
The R multiple is fully configurable.
33. PROFIT TARGET โ ORB PROJECTION
Projects a configurable multiple of the complete ORB range beyond the breakout boundary.
Long:
ORB High + ORB Range ร multiplier
Short:
ORB Low - ORB Range ร multiplier
34. PROFIT TARGET โ ATR
Sets the target a configurable ATR multiple away from entry.
Long:
Entry + ATR ร multiplier
Short:
Entry - ATR ร multiplier
35. PROFIT TARGET โ ORB MIDPOINT
Uses the ORB midpoint as the target.
This can be useful when researching reversal or mean-reversion behavior.
36. PROFIT TARGET โ ORB OPPOSITE RANGE
Targets the opposite ORB boundary.
This is especially useful for studying moves that rotate from one side of the range toward the other.
37. DEDICATED FADE TARGETS
Fade/reversal entries can use their own target preference:
โข Midpoint
โข Opposite Boundary
โข Fixed R
This allows continuation trades and fade trades to be researched using different exit logic.
38. POSITION SIZING โ FIXED USD RISK
Position size can be calculated so the planned loss between entry and stop corresponds to a fixed dollar amount.
The script calculates:
โข Entry-to-stop distance
โข Cash risk per unit
โข Required quantity
and then rounds quantity according to the configured quantity step.
39. POSITION SIZING โ RISK % OF EQUITY
Position size can dynamically scale with strategy equity.
The selected percentage of current equity is divided by the calculated cash risk per unit to determine quantity.
This allows compounding-based position sizing to be researched.
40. POSITION SIZING โ FIXED QUANTITY
A fixed position size can be used instead of risk-based sizing.
41. QUANTITY CONSTRAINTS
Position sizing supports:
โข Quantity step
โข Minimum quantity
โข Maximum quantity
Calculated quantity is stepped downward to the permitted increment and then constrained within the configured minimum and maximum.
This makes sizing adaptable to instruments with different contract or quantity requirements.
42. MAXIMUM DAILY PLANNED RISK
An optional daily planned-risk ceiling can prevent new entries when another planned trade would push total daily risk above the configured limit.
A value of zero disables this restriction.
43. STOP AFTER FIRST WIN
When enabled, the strategy prevents further entries after the first profitable closed trade of the day.
44. STOP AFTER FIRST LOSS
When enabled, the strategy prevents further entries after the first losing closed trade of the day.
These two controls can be used independently to study daily stopping rules.
45. ENTRY CUTOFF
A configurable time prevents new entries after a chosen hour and minute.
For Breakout (Touch), any remaining unfilled resting breakout orders are cancelled when the cutoff is reached.
46. FORCE CLOSE
An optional forced-close time exits any remaining open position at or after the configured time.
This is useful for strictly intraday strategies that should not carry positions beyond a session boundary.
47. WEEKDAY FILTERS
Every day of the week can be independently enabled or disabled:
โข Monday
โข Tuesday
โข Wednesday
โข Thursday
โข Friday
โข Saturday
โข Sunday
This allows weekday effects to be researched without modifying the strategy code.
48. BREAKEVEN MANAGEMENT
An optional breakeven system can move the active stop after price reaches a configurable R multiple.
Controls:
โข Breakeven activation R
โข Breakeven offset in ticks
For a long position, the stop can move to entry plus the selected offset.
For a short position, the stop can move to entry minus the selected offset.
The stop is only tightened; the logic does not intentionally loosen an existing stop.
49. BAR-CLOSE ATR TRAILING STOP
An optional ATR trailing system activates after the trade reaches a configurable R threshold.
The strategy tracks the best confirmed close reached during the trade.
After activation:
Long:
Trail candidate = Best Close - Entry ATR ร Trail Multiplier
Short:
Trail candidate = Best Close + Entry ATR ร Trail Multiplier
The stop only ratchets in the favorable direction.
The trailing logic operates on confirmed bars.
50. TIME-BASED EXIT
Positions can optionally be closed after a specified number of bars.
Setting the value to zero disables the time exit.
51. ONE ACTIVE POSITION / NO PYRAMIDING
The strategy is configured with pyramiding disabled.
New setups also require the strategy to be flat before entry.
This keeps the framework focused on one active position at a time rather than stacking multiple simultaneous positions.
52. OCA BREAKOUT ORDER MANAGEMENT
Breakout (Touch) orders use One-Cancels-All behavior.
When one resting breakout order fills, competing unfilled touch orders are cancelled.
The strategy then records the filled ORB, direction, stop, target, entry ATR, and original risk for active position management.
53. ORB VISUALIZATION
Optional ORB boxes display the opening-range construction directly on the chart.
Once complete, the script extends:
โข ORB High
โข ORB Low
โข Optional ORB Midpoint
forward on the chart.
This allows the strategy logic to be inspected visually rather than only through Strategy Tester results.
54. SIGNAL LABELS
Optional labels identify strategy entries and their originating logic.
Examples include:
โข Breakout Touch Fill
โข Breakout Close
โข ORB Retest
โข FVG Retest
โข High Sweep
โข Low Sweep
โข Fade First High Break
โข Fade First Low Break
โข Decision: Continuation
โข Decision: Failed High
โข Decision: Failed Low
55. BLOCKED-REASON DEBUGGING
Optional debugging labels can show why an otherwise evaluated setup was blocked.
Possible reasons include:
โข Direction disabled
โข Range filter
โข Entry / daily limit
โข Bias / condition filter
โข Other blocked condition
This feature is designed to make strategy research easier by showing not only where entries occurred, but also why expected entries did not occur.
56. ACTIVE STOP & TARGET PLOTS
While a position is open, the strategy can display:
โข Active Stop
โข Active Target
directly on the chart.
Stops dynamically reflect breakeven or trailing-stop adjustments when those systems are active.
57. RESEARCH DASHBOARD
An optional dashboard displays current strategy information including:
โข Selected Entry Model
โข Daily Entries vs Maximum
โข Planned Daily Risk
โข EMA Bias
โข VWAP Bias
โข Previous Daily Close
โข Current Position: Long / Short / Flat
โข Entry Cutoff Time
The dashboard provides a compact view of the currently active configuration and state.
58. PREVIOUS DAILY CLOSE WITHOUT LOOKAHEAD
The previous-close feature retrieves confirmed daily data using lookahead disabled and then references the prior confirmed daily close.
This avoids intentionally using future daily information in the previous-close filter.
59. RESEARCH-FIRST DESIGN
ORB Laboratory is intentionally modular.
Many settings are not intended to be enabled simultaneously.
The purpose is to allow individual hypotheses to be isolated.
Examples:
โข Does Touch outperform Close confirmation?
โข Does requiring a retest improve expectancy?
โข Are failed first breaks more useful as fades?
โข Does the ORB midpoint outperform an ATR stop?
โข Does an EMA or VWAP filter improve results?
โข Are very small or very large ORBs less effective?
โข Does a breakout buffer improve robustness?
โข Does performance survive different stop models?
โข Does Fixed-R outperform range projection?
โข How sensitive are results to spread assumptions?
โข How does limiting entries affect drawdown?
โข Do certain weekdays behave differently?
โข Does breakeven improve or damage expectancy?
The framework is designed to answer those questions with data rather than intuition.
IMPORTANT BACKTESTING NOTES
ORB Laboratory is a research and backtesting tool.
Historical results can change significantly based on:
โข Symbol
โข Exchange / broker data feed
โข Timeframe
โข ORB session
โข ORB length
โข Entry model
โข Breakout buffer
โข Stop model
โข Target model
โข Position sizing
โข Spread assumptions
โข Commission
โข Slippage
โข Filters
โข Test period
โข Market regime
Different data feeds can produce different highs and lows and therefore different ORB boundaries, triggers, stops, targets, and trade sequences.
Results from one feed should not be assumed to reproduce another feed trade-for-trade.
The optional bid/ask modeling system is an approximation built around TradingView's historical-chart limitations.
TradingView may still report the chart trigger as the historical fill even when the strategy is using a corrected/intended price internally for risk or target calculations.
Users should configure TradingView's Strategy Properties appropriately for the instrument and execution assumptions being researched, including commissions and any additional slippage assumptions.
No backtest guarantees future results.

Range Commander ORB [JOAT]An Opening Range Breakout command center: captures the opening range, projects measured-move targets, and tracks the breakout live.
โ WHAT IT IS
The opening range โ the high and low of the first minutes of a session โ is one of the most-watched intraday reference structures. Range Commander captures it automatically, locks it into a clean box, and builds a full breakout and target framework around it. It is a context and structure tool: it maps the range, marks the breaks, and tracks the targets โ it does not fire endless buy/sell arrows.
This is 100% original code, written from scratch. It does not reuse any other author's ORB script.
โ HOW IT WORKS
1. Range capture. During your chosen session window (default 09:30โ09:45 New York, fully adjustable with a timezone selector), the indicator records the running high and low into a live box.
2. Lock and project. When the window closes, the range locks. Its height becomes 1R , and the tool projects measured-move target rails at ยฑ0.5R, ยฑ1R and ยฑ1.5R (all configurable), plus the range midline.
3. Breakout logic. A breakout is registered on either a close beyond the range (cleaner) or a wick beyond the range (faster) โ your choice. An option stamps only the first break per side per day to keep the chart immaculate. A minimum range-size filter (in ATR) lets you skip dead, low-range opens.
4. Retests and targets. After a break, the first return to the broken edge is marked with a subtle diamond, and each measured-move target is tracked as hit or unhit in the dashboard.
โ WHAT YOU SEE
โข A precision opening-range box with high/low rails and optional midline
โข Measured-move target rails at ยฑ0.5R / ยฑ1R / ยฑ1.5R
โข Minimal breakout stamps and retest diamonds โ no arrow spam
โข A resizable command dashboard with breakout status, OR high/low with intact-or-broken state, range height, range-versus-ATR quality (tight / normal / wide), which targets have printed, and retest status
โ HOW TO USE IT
โข Set the session window to match your instrument and desired ORB length (e.g. 0930-1000 for a 30-minute range).
โข A wide range vs. ATR often signals a more energetic session; a tight range warns breakouts may be prone to failure.
โข Use the ยฑR target rails as objective, pre-defined profit references and the opposite range edge as a natural invalidation.
โข Designed for intraday timeframes . On daily and higher charts the session concept does not apply, and the dashboard will say so.
โ NOTES & LIMITATIONS
Use on standard candlestick charts and intraday timeframes. Opening-range breakouts fail as well as follow through โ the tool maps structure and targets, it is not financial advice and cannot guarantee a break will run. Combine it with your own analysis and risk management.

Indicator

Opening Range Breakout Session Strategy [JOAT]Opening Range Breakout Session Strategy
Locks the opening range of your session, then trades disciplined, capped breakouts beyond it with fully framed risk.
What it is
The first minutes of a session set the day's battle lines. The opening range โ the high and low forged during that early window โ is where overnight orders, gap fills and early positioning collide, and price leaving that range tends to keep going. This indicator builds the opening range objectively, trades confirmed breakouts from it, and enforces the discipline that makes the approach workable: a session filter and a hard daily trade cap. It is an original implementation of the widely-used opening-range-breakout concept.
How it works
โข Opening range โ during a user-defined opening window (09:30โ10:00 by default, in your chosen timezone) the tool records the high and low, then locks them as the reference range and draws a clean box with labelled ORH and ORL levels.
โข Session and daily reset โ signals are only allowed inside a separate trade-session window, and the range clears cleanly on each new day using a real day-change test, so nothing carries over stale.
โข Breakout logic โ a Buy fires on a confirmed close above the range high plus a small ATR buffer; a Sell on a confirmed close below the range low minus the buffer. The buffer filters marginal pokes through the edge.
โข Discipline โ a hard cap of N trades per day plus a minimum-bar spacing control prevent the range edges from generating repeated signals as price oscillates around them.
Trade framing
Each signal projects a red risk box and a green reward box. The stop is either the opposite opening-range edge (structure-based, the default) or an ATR distance, and the three targets ladder out in R multiples with labelled entry, stop and take-profit prices. Extension levels at 1R and 2R from the range edges are also projected as context for where a breakout may travel.
The dashboard
An adjustable session ticket shows the current phase (pre-open, opening, session or locked), the range size, the bias relative to the range, a breakout-extension meter, the trades used against the daily cap, the active signal, and a live first-target-before-stop tally from closed bars only.
How to use it
โข Set the opening window, trade session and timezone to match your market (index or futures cash open, an FX session, or a crypto day boundary).
โข Wait for the range to lock, then take confirmed breakouts; use the opposite edge as your invalidation and the extension levels as context.
โข Respect the daily cap โ the discipline is part of the method, not an afterthought.
Settings
Opening-range and trade-session windows, timezone, ATR length, stop mode and multiplier, breakout buffer, target R multiples, maximum trades per day, plus full visual and dashboard controls.
Originality and usefulness
Opening-range breakout is a public concept; the contribution here is the complete, disciplined implementation โ objective range locking, a strict session and daily-reset model, buffered confirmed-close breakouts, structure-based stops at the opposite edge, and integrated non-repainting trade framing โ explained so each control's purpose is clear.
Notes and limitations
โข Range-bound sessions produce whipsaws around the edges; the buffer and daily cap reduce but do not remove this.
โข Breakouts fail regularly โ the opposite-edge stop and R-based targets exist precisely for that reason.
โข Session settings must match the instrument, or the range will be measured at the wrong time.
โข The win tally reflects only past bars on the current chart and is not a forecast.
โข Educational and analytical tool, not financial advice.

Indicator

ORB & Session Liquidity Model [JOAT]ORB and Session Liquidity Model
Builds the opening range for your chosen session, maps the liquidity around it, and signals breakouts with session-aware trade control.
What it is
The first minutes of a session set a reference range that the rest of the session repeatedly reacts to. This indicator defines that opening range, tracks the liquidity sitting above and below it, and signals confirmed breakouts โ with session timing, a daily trade cap and full trade framing built in. It is an original session-driven model, not a generic breakout line.
How it works
โข Opening range โ during a user-defined opening window (for example the first N minutes of your session), the tool records the high and low. Once the window closes, that range is locked as the reference for the rest of the day and drawn as a box.
โข Session logic โ the model resets cleanly each new day using a real session-change test, so counters and levels do not carry stale values across sessions. Trading is only permitted inside the active session window you define.
โข Liquidity ladder โ levels around the range (its extremes and projections) are drawn and labelled as the liquidity price is likely to seek. These give context for where a breakout may run to or reverse from.
โข Breakout signals โ a Buy fires on a confirmed close beyond the range high plus a buffer; a Sell on a confirmed close below the range low minus the buffer. A per-day maximum-trades cap and a minimum-gap control prevent the level from generating repeated prints as price oscillates around it.
Trade levels
Each breakout draws a red risk box to the stop and a green reward box to the third target, with inner dividers and right-edge labels for entry, stop and each take-profit at your R multiples. Stops relate to the range, which is the structure the trade is based on.
The dashboard
An adjustable session-console panel shows the current session phase (pre-range, range building, or live), the locked range, the directional bias relative to it, the trades used against the daily cap, the active signal, a conviction estimate, and a live first-target-before-stop tally from closed bars only.
How to use it
โข Set the opening window and session to match the market you trade (indices, futures, forex sessions, crypto day boundaries).
โข Wait for the range to lock, then trade confirmed breakouts in the direction of your bias; use the liquidity ladder for targets and invalidation.
โข The daily cap keeps the model disciplined โ respect it rather than overriding on every wiggle.
Settings
Opening-range window, session hours, breakout buffer, maximum trades per day, liquidity options, risk multiple and target R multiples, plus visual and dashboard controls.
Originality and usefulness
Opening-range breakout is a known concept; the contribution here is the integrated liquidity mapping around the range, the strict session reset and daily trade governance, the confirmed-close breakout logic, and the full non-repainting trade framing โ assembled into one session-aware model and explained so each element's role is clear.
Notes and limitations
โข Breakouts can fail, and range-bound sessions produce whipsaws around the levels โ the buffer and daily cap reduce but do not eliminate this.
โข Session settings must match the instrument; a mismatched window will define the range at the wrong time.

ยฟCรณmo funciona?
โฌ Gris โ No operar
Indicator

ORB WindowsA clean, fully configurable Opening Range Breakout indicator with up to three simultaneous time windows. This script lets you define your own windows. Set them to whatever your session or strategy calls for.
Three configurable windows
Each window tracks its own high and low independently. Window 1 defaults to 5 minutes, Window 2 to 15 minutes, Window 3 to 60 minutes (hidden by default). Set any window to whatever range you want. Lines are visually differentiated: W1 is solid, W2 is dashed, W3 is dotted.
Break and confirm markers
Two signals per level, per window:
Small triangle โ price ticked through the level (break)
Larger triangle โ candle closed through the level (confirmation)
Filtering on close confirmation reduces noise from wicks and fakeouts.
Range label
When each window locks in, a label shows the high, low, and range size in both points and percentage. Useful for quickly assessing whether the ORB is tight or wide before deciding how to trade the break.
Formation window highlight
A subtle background color marks the W1 formation period so you can see exactly which candles built the range.
12 alert conditions
Four per window: break above, break below, close above, close below. Wire them up however your workflow calls for.
Settings
ORB Windows: set the duration (in minutes) for each of the three windows
Visibility: toggle each window, markers, range label, and formation highlight independently
Colors: fully customizable per window
Designed for intraday use. Works on any liquid instrument with a defined regular session. Indicator

Big Daddy Max ORB StrategyBig Daddy Max ORB Strategy | Scam or Slam Series
This script is part of my Scam or Slam series, where I take popular trading concepts, code them into TradingView strategies, and backtest them properly to see if the idea actually has an edge โ or if it only looks good in hindsight.
This strategy is based around the classic Opening Range Breakout concept.
The script builds an opening range using the selected ORB window, then looks for two main trade types:
1. Continuation Entries
If price closes above the ORB high, the strategy can enter long.
If price closes below the ORB low, the strategy can enter short.
2. Reversal Entries
If price breaks out of the ORB but then closes back inside the range, the strategy can treat that as a failed breakout and enter in the opposite direction.
The strategy includes adjustable settings for:
โข ORB session window
โข Trading window
โข Take profit RR
โข Contract / quantity size
โข Continuation entries on/off
โข Reversal entries on/off
โข Stop loss at ORB midpoint or opposite ORB side
โข Close trades at session end
โข Entry, stop loss, and take profit visuals
โข Risk/reward boxes
โข ORB high, low, and midpoint levels
The script now works across all chart timeframes. Lower timeframes will give a more precise ORB, while higher timeframes will naturally be less detailed because they use fewer candles to build the range.
This is designed for backtesting and educational purposes only. The goal is not to claim that the strategy is profitable out of the box, but to test the logic properly and see whether the concept is a Scam or a Slam.
As always, this is not financial advice. Do your own research, test everything yourself, and never risk money you cannot afford to lose.

IrishGOD (ORB)Opening Range Breakout (ORB) Indicator โ Professional Description
Pine Script v5 Overlay Indicator Intraday
Opening Range Breakout (ORB)
A precision intraday indicator that defines the high and low of a configurable opening range window, locks those levels once the window expires, and flags the first directional breakout of the day with a clear visual signal directly on the chart.
Overview
The Opening Range Breakout strategy is one of the most widely used frameworks in active intraday and momentum trading. The theory holds that the high and low established during the first N minutes of a session represent a market structure boundary โ a zone of price discovery where institutional and retail participants alike are establishing positions. A decisive break above or below this range often signals the direction of the day's dominant trend.
This indicator automates the entire process: it watches price during the formation window, locks the range the instant the window closes, draws clean reference lines, and marks the first breakout in each direction with a non-cluttering arrow label โ without requiring any manual input from the trader after initial setup.
Core logic
Phase 1 โ Range formation
From the configured session open time, the indicator tracks the rolling high and low of every bar within the ORB window. No lines are drawn yet; the range is still live and expanding with each new bar.
Phase 2 โ Range lock
On the first bar after the ORB window closes, the high and low are frozen. Two horizontal lines are drawn from that exact bar extending forward for the remainder of the session. The range will not change again for the rest of the day.
Phase 3 โ Bullish breakout signal
If price closes above the ORB High after the window has locked, a green upward arrow is plotted below the breakout candle. This signal fires only once per day โ the first confirmed close above the range.
Phase 4 โ Bearish breakout signal
If price closes below the ORB Low after the window has locked, a red downward arrow is plotted above the breakout candle. Like the bullish signal, this fires once per day on first confirmed close below the range.
Configuration parameters
Parameter Default Description
Session Start Hour 9 Hour of day (24-hour format) when the session opens and ORB formation begins. Adjust for futures, forex, or international markets.
Session Start Minute 30 Minute offset within the start hour. Combined with the hour input, defines the exact session open (default: 9:30 for US equities).
ORB Duration 30 min How many minutes the range formation window remains open. Common settings are 5, 15, 30, and 60 minutes. Accepts 1โ240 minutes.
Range High Line Color Teal Color of the horizontal ORB High reference line. Fully customizable via the TradingView color picker.
Range Low Line Color Orange Color of the horizontal ORB Low reference line. Distinct from the high to allow instant visual separation at a glance.
Line Width 1 Thickness of the range lines in pixels. Range of 1โ4. Useful for scaling visibility on higher-resolution monitors.
Arrow Size small Controls the rendered size of breakout arrow labels. Options: tiny, small, normal, large. Sized to avoid obscuring surrounding price action.
Extend Lines true When enabled, range lines extend 500 bars to the right โ effectively to the right edge of the visible chart. Disable to limit lines to ~390 bars (standard session length).
Enable Alerts false When enabled, fires a TradingView alert on the first bullish or bearish breakout of each session. Compatible with webhooks, email, and push notifications.
Visual features
Formation Window
Yellow background tint
A subtle highlight shades the candles within the ORB formation window so you can immediately see which bars contributed to the range definition.
Reference Lines
Clean horizontal levels
Single solid lines mark the ORB High and Low from the moment the window closes, extending forward without visual clutter. Previous day's lines are removed automatically.
Breakout Arrows
Directional label markers
Arrow labels are offset from price using ATR(14) so they never overlap the candle body or wick. Transparent backgrounds keep the chart unobstructed.
Data Window
ORB level readout
Once the range is locked, the exact ORB High and Low values appear in TradingView's Data Window panel for precise reference at any bar.
Compatibility
The indicator is designed for intraday timeframes โ it is most effective on charts from 1-minute through 30-minute bars. It will not produce signals on daily or higher timeframes, as the ORB window logic depends on intraday time-of-day calculations.
The session start time defaults to 9:30 AM ET for US equity and ETF markets. For futures markets (ES, NQ, CL), crypto, or forex, adjust the start hour and minute to match the relevant session open.

Moving Range Breakout [Dynamic Box]Title: Moving Range Breakout
Description
The Moving Range Breakout is a clean, visual-first momentum indicator designed to identify and highlight price breakouts from a defined lookback period. Unlike traditional "channel" indicators that clutter the chart with historical lines, this script uses a dynamic, self-adjusting box that focuses exclusively on the most recent price action.
This indicator is perfect for traders who utilize Opening Range Breakouts (ORB), Volatility Contraction Patterns (VCP), or simple Box Trading strategies.
How It Works
The script calculates the highest high and lowest low of a user-defined number of previous bars (the "Lookback Period").
The Box: It draws a transparent geometric box encompassing only those lookback bars.
The Offset: The calculation specifically uses (the previous bar) to ensure the box boundaries are fixed while the current "live" bar is forming. This prevents the range from "moving the goalposts" mid-candle.
The Logic:
BUY Signal: Triggered when the current bar closes above the High of the box.
SELL Signal: Triggered when the current bar closes below the Low of the box.
Auto-Cleanup: To maintain a "Zero-Clutter" chart, the script is programmed to only show the most recent Buy and Sell labels. As soon as a new breakout occurs, the previous label is removed.
Key Features
Timeframe Adaptive: Works on any timeframe (1m, 5m, 1h, Daily).
Customizable Lookback: No hard limits; set it to 5 bars for scalping or 50 bars for swing trading.
Persistent Labels: Uses label.set_xy logic to ensure only one signal of each type exists on the chart at any time, keeping your workspace clean.
Unified Alerts: Includes a built-in alertcondition that allows you to monitor both Buy and Sell signals using a single TradingView alert slot.
How to Use
Setting the Range: Use the "Lookback Period" in the settings to define your consolidation zone. (e.g., set to 20 to trade the breakout of the last 20 bars).
Confirming the Breakout: The signal is plotted on Bar Close. Entering a trade before the bar closes may result in a "fakeout" where price wicks out and returns to the box.
Setting Alerts:
Click Create Alert.
Select this script as the Condition.
Select "Any Breakout Alert".
Choose "Once Per Bar Close".
Settings
Lookback Period: Number of bars to include in the high/low calculation.
Box Fill Color: Adjust the transparency of the range highlight.
Border Color: Adjust the color of the range boundaries.
Disclaimer
Breakout trading involves risk, especially in low-volume or sideways markets ("choppy" price action). It is recommended to use this indicator in conjunction with volume analysis or higher-timeframe trend filters. Indicator

Strategy

ORB + Volume + VWAP BreakoutA disciplined intraday breakout indicator that combines three classic confirmations into a single signal: an **Opening Range Breakout**, a **volume surge**, and **VWAP trend alignment**. Designed to filter out low-quality breakouts and highlight only moves backed by participation and momentum.
## Concept
Opening Range Breakout (ORB) is one of the oldest and most robust intraday setups โ the theory being that the first N minutes of the session establish the day's battleground, and a decisive break of that range signals directional commitment. On its own, however, ORB produces too many false signals. This indicator layers two institutional-grade filters on top:
- **Volume confirmation** โ the breakout bar must print at least 1.5ร the recent average volume, weeding out thin, low-conviction moves.
- **VWAP alignment** โ price must be trading above VWAP, confirming that the average buyer of the day is in profit and bulls are in control.
Only when all three conditions align on the same bar does the indicator fire a signal.
## How It Works
1. At the start of each regular trading session, the indicator tracks the high and low of the first 30 minutes (configurable).
2. Once the opening range is locked, it monitors every subsequent bar for a close above the range high.
3. On each potential breakout, it checks that current volume exceeds 1.5ร the 20-bar average (both configurable) and that price is above the session VWAP.
4. When all three conditions are met on the same bar, it plots a green triangle below the bar, highlights the background, and fires an alert.
5. The signal is de-duplicated so you get exactly **one alert per breakout leg**, not one per bar while price stays above the range.
## Visual Output
- **Blue line** โ Opening Range High (active only during session)
- **Orange line** โ Opening Range Low (active only during session)
- **Purple line** โ Session VWAP
- **Green triangle + "BRK" label** โ Breakout signal
- **Green background highlight** โ Emphasizes the breakout bar
## Settings
- **Opening Range (minutes)** โ Length of the opening range window. Default 30. Classic values: 15, 30, 60.
- **Regular Trading Session** โ Session time string. Default `0930-1600` (US equities). Change for futures (`1800-1700`), crypto (`0000-0000`), or other markets.
- **Volume Multiplier** โ How many times the average volume is required. Default 1.5. Use 2.0+ for stricter filtering.
- **Volume Average Length** โ Lookback for the volume SMA. Default 20.
- **Show Opening Range / Show VWAP** โ Toggle visual elements.
## Alerts
The indicator registers a `ORB Breakout` alert condition. To enable:
1. Right-click the chart โ **Add Alert**
2. Set **Condition** to this indicator โ **ORB Breakout**
3. Configure delivery (popup, email, webhook, etc.)
The alert message includes ticker and close price via TradingView placeholders.
Important Usage Notes
**1. Use on intraday timeframes lower than the opening range.** This indicator is built for 1m, 5m, or 15m charts with a 30-minute opening range. Running it on a timeframe equal to or higher than the OR window (e.g. 30m or 1h chart with 30-minute OR) will produce incorrect range values because the first bar of the session already spans the entire window or more.
**Recommended pairings:**
- 30-min OR โ use 1m / 5m / 15m chart
- 15-min OR โ use 1m / 3m / 5m chart
- 60-min OR โ use 5m / 15m / 30m chart
**2. Match the session string to your instrument.** The default `0930-1600` is US stock market hours in the exchange's native time zone. If you apply this to futures, forex, or crypto, update the session input accordingly โ otherwise the opening range will never register.
**3. Extended hours display does not break the indicator.** The session detection uses day-change logic rather than session-gap logic, so it works identically whether "Extended Trading Hours" is toggled on or off in chart settings.
**4. VWAP is session-anchored.** The built-in `ta.vwap()` resets each session automatically, matching how most traders read VWAP. If you need a weekly- or monthly-anchored VWAP, the script would need modification.
**5. Signals are confirmed on bar close.** Like all close-based indicators, signals can flicker intraday before the bar closes. For live trading, wait for the bar to close before acting, or use the `alert()` function with `barstate.isconfirmed` for non-repainting alerts (requires a minor code adjustment).
## Known Limitations
- **Long-only by design.** This version fires on upside breakouts with bullish VWAP confirmation. A short-side version would invert the logic (close < ORL, close < VWAP).
- **No automatic stop or target.** This is a signal indicator, not a complete strategy. Users should pair it with their own risk management (e.g. stop below opening range low, target at prior day's high, or ATR-based exits).
- **Volume filter is market-dependent.** A 1.5ร multiplier works well for liquid US equities but may be too strict for low-volume names or too loose for high-volatility small caps. Tune to your universe.
- **First trading day on a new symbol.** On the very first session visible in your chart's history, the 20-bar volume average may be based on incomplete data. Subsequent days are unaffected.
- **Not intended for swing or position trading.** The opening range concept is intraday-specific and loses meaning on daily+ timeframes.
## Ideal Use Cases
- Momentum day trading on liquid US equities (SPY, QQQ, NVDA, TSLA, AAPL, etc.)
- Index futures (ES, NQ) during RTH
- Filtering gap-and-go setups for only the ones with genuine follow-through
- As a confirmation layer on top of your existing breakout watchlist
## Credits
Opening Range Breakout concept originally popularized by Toby Crabel (*Day Trading with Short Term Price Patterns and Opening Range Breakout*, 1990). Volume and VWAP confirmation filters are standard institutional trading practice.

**Feedback welcome.** If you find a setup where the signals are consistently wrong (or consistently great), leave a comment with the ticker and timeframe โ I'll use the data to refine future versions. Indicator

DKS 30 Minute ORB with Multi-Timeframe Bias and HTF ZonesThis script combines a 30-minute Opening Range Breakout (ORB) model with higher-timeframe supply and demand zones and a multi-timeframe directional bias dashboard to create a structured intraday trading framework.
Core Components
Opening Range Breakout (ORB):
The script defines the first 30-minute range of the selected session and highlights the high and low. These levels act as key breakout points, where price is monitored for continuation or rejection.
Higher Timeframe Supply & Demand Zones:
Only higher timeframe zones (1H, 2H, and 4H) are plotted on lower timeframes to reduce noise and focus on stronger areas of interest. These zones help identify potential reversal or continuation areas in confluence with the ORB levels.
Multi-Timeframe Bias Dashboard:
A built-in bias table displays directional sentiment across multiple timeframes (5m, 15m, 30m, 1H, 2H, 4H, Daily).
Bullish conditions are highlighted in green
Bearish conditions are highlighted in red
This allows traders to align intraday entries with higher timeframe direction.
How It Works Together
The script is designed to:
Identify breakout opportunities from the ORB range
Confirm direction using higher timeframe bias
Use supply/demand zones as targets or invalidation areas
This combination helps filter low-probability trades and improves overall trade structure.
How To Use
Mark the ORB range during your session (e.g., market open)
Wait for price to break and retest the range
Confirm direction using the bias dashboard
Use HTF zones for entries, targets, or stop placement
Notes
This script is intended as a decision-support tool and should be used alongside proper risk management. Indicator

Opening Range BoxOpening Range Box
Opening Range Box highlights the high and low of a user-defined opening session and visualizes the range directly on the chart. The script tracks price during the selected session window and dynamically builds a range using the highest high and lowest low that occur within that period. As the session progresses, the range updates in real time so traders can see the developing structure of the opening market activity.
Once the session begins, the indicator starts calculating the opening range and draws a box around the price action between the session high and low. At the same time, horizontal lines are plotted at the high and low levels of the range. These levels represent important reference points that many intraday traders use to identify potential breakout, breakdown, or support and resistance zones.
After the opening session ends, the final range is locked in. If enabled, the high and low levels can automatically extend to the right side of the chart so they remain visible for the rest of the trading session. This allows traders to easily monitor how price interacts with the opening range throughout the day.
An optional midpoint line can also be displayed. This dashed line represents the 50% level of the opening range and can be used as an additional reference level for balance, mean reversion, or intraday bias.
All visual elements can be customized. Users can control the session time, enable or disable the range box, show or hide the midpoint, extend the range levels across the chart, and adjust colors and line width to match their chart layout.
The default session is set to 09:30โ10:00 to match the first thirty minutes of the U.S. equities market open, but it can be changed to any time window to suit different markets or trading strategies. The indicator is designed for intraday charts and is commonly used for opening range breakout strategies and early-session support and resistance analysis. Indicator
