NBFR provides large-cap US exposure with an options overlay designed to reduce losses. The fund invests in companies that comprise the Nasdaq-100 index (NDX) and uses FLEX options to buffer the first 10% of losses over rolling one-year periods (with quarterly staggered contracts for overlapping buffers). To generate option premium, the fund sells short-dated call options. In exchange for preventing realization of the first 10% of losses, the fund foregoes some upside return as well as the dividend component of NDX, as options are written on the price return version of the shares. Buffer levels are set at NAV upon contract initiation and applied at expiration. Through the combined laddered put option contracts and sold short-dated call option contracts, the fund targets an annual drawdown protection level of 10-14%. Losses beyond 10% are not protected, and fees and expenses are excluded. There is no guarantee the fund will meet its objectives.
