You could say we are entering a period of stagflation similar to the seventies. Foreign countries had started to pull back their gold to protect themselves against inflation while the US was financing the failed war in Vietnam. After the Nixon Shock, gold skyrocketed 12x and we entered a system of free floating currencies. From the ashes of the twin oil crsis of 1973 and 1979 the petrodollar was birthed. This period of 'change' ended abruptly after Volcker raised the 10-year rates to 16% sending the US dollar to dizzying hights relative to foreign currencies.

See Bitcoin and Ethereum as this decades gold as the Nasdaq stays stagnant due to inflation. The weaponisation of SWIFT against Russia during the Ukraine war marks the end of the post Bretton Woods system. Does this new period of change mark the beginning of the cryptodollar?
