Rivian Automotive Appoints New COO

Rivian Automotive has announced the appointment of Javier Varela as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO), succeeding Frank Klein. Varela, who previously served as COO and Deputy Chief Executive at Volvo Cars, will join Rivian in August.

In his new role, Varela will oversee operations including procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and quality. He will also be responsible for the launch of Rivian's R2 and will report directly to RJ Scaringe, the Chief Executive of Rivian Automotive.

Varela has expressed his commitment to helping Rivian scale and innovate as it prepares to roll out R2 and its next generation of vehicles.
