Updated TA Industry Strength
This stock indicator evaluates 40 exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by comparing their relative price movement over time periods ranging from 1-12 months. We created this tool as a shortcut to identifying the best and worst-performing areas of the market over the short to medium term. This is done by tracking ETFs which each hold a basket of stocks in their respective market sectors and we believe to best represent the price performance of the group. This indicator drastically reduces the time spent scanning through every sector and industry in the market.
Traders also have the ability to define how many top industries they wish to have displayed with the default being 5. We like to add 3 separate instances of the indicator on our chart at various locations to view the top-performing groups over the last 1, 3 and 6 months. Industries that appear on multiple lists are areas we like to focus on since they are showing outperformance over multiple time frames and therefore likely experiencing a group move driven by an institutional investment theme. We then focus our analysis on the top stocks within these top industries. We see this as “fishing from a stocked pond.” Historically, concentrating on stocks in the best-performing areas of the market has been a superior method to achieving outsized returns.

In this version, we introduced several enhancements for improved usability and clarity:Checkbox system: Added options to toggle between multiple timeframes (1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months) for flexible analysis.
Tiny text labels: Implemented smaller text formatting to keep the chart display clean and less obtrusive.
Top spacing adjustment: Added an empty buffer space at the top of the chart to prevent overlap with the ticker symbol and OHLC (Open, High, Low, Close) information.
