Asia Sell / US Buy + Regime Flip (Crypto Sessions)Indicator Description: Asia Sell / US Buy + Regime Flip (Crypto Sessions)
Purpose
This indicator breaks the crypto trading day into Asia and US sessions, measures each session’s directional contribution, and highlights when leadership shifts (a “regime flip”) from one session to the other — e.g., “Asia sells, US buys,” and when that pattern changes.
⸻
Sessions (default, in UTC)
• Asia session: 00:00–08:00 UTC
• US session: 13:30–20:00 UTC
(You can adjust both sessions in the settings.)
⸻
What the indicator calculates
For each session, it computes one of two selectable metrics:
1. Return (Session Return)
Return = \frac{Close_{end}}{Open_{start}} - 1
• Positive = the session pushed price up (net buying pressure)
• Negative = the session pushed price down (net selling pressure)
2. Pressure (Volume-Signed Proxy)
A rough “delta-like” proxy accumulated during the session:
• Candle closes up → +volume
• Candle closes down → −volume
This is not true bid/ask delta, but it often approximates directional effort by volume.
⸻
Core signal: US Advantage vs Asia
The main line is the spread:
Edge = US\_metric - Asia\_metric
Interpretation:
• Edge > 0 → US session dominates Asia (often “US buying / absorbing”)
• Edge < 0 → Asia session dominates US (often “Asia selling / pushing down”)
A smoothed Edge MA is plotted to visualize the underlying regime more clearly.
⸻
Regime Flip (Cycle Change)
The indicator marks leadership switches:
• Cycle flip: US > Asia when Edge crosses above 0 (from negative to positive)
• Cycle flip: Asia > US when Edge crosses below 0 (from positive to negative)
Optional noise control:
• Min edge filter (x ATR) filters out weak flips during low-quality chop by requiring Edge magnitude to be meaningful relative to ATR.
⸻
What you see on the chart
In the indicator pane:
• Asia metric (Return or Pressure)
• US metric (Return or Pressure)
• US − Asia (Edge) — the main dominance line
• Edge MA — smoothed regime line
• Flip labels — printed on regime changes (optional)
A top-right dashboard table shows the latest Asia/US metrics, Edge, and the current regime (US dominant / Asia dominant).
⸻
Recommended use
• Best timeframes: 15m–1h (too small = noisy)
• Start with Mode = Return for clean interpretation
• Use Pressure when you want a volume-sensitive “effort” proxy
• Increase Min edge filter (x ATR) (e.g., 0.5–1.0) for fewer, stronger flips
