TIPD seeks to provide periodic inflation linked distributions through a ladder of US Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS) with final maturities in 2055. It builds out rungs beginning with 2026 and extending through 2055, investing in roughly equal par amounts to create a stream of income and principal distributions over time. Maturing securities are not reinvested, instead TIPD distributes cash, which may include a return of capital. The Fund intends to keep most assets in TIPS, though during short transition windows it may use money market instruments until reinvested across remaining rungs. Because the principal value of TIPS is tied to the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), they provide inflation protection while often yielding less than traditional bonds. After the 2055 rung concludes, TIPD will liquidate and distribute substantially all assets to conclude its laddered structure.
