TXSS provides targeted exposure to the Texas small-cap equity space. The fund adviser believes that companies headquartered in Texas enjoy certain economic, regulatory, taxation, workforce, and other benefits relative to companies headquartered in other states. The portfolio construction starts with an initial universe of companies from Texas that are listed on the NYSE and/or NASDAQ and have smaller market capitalizations than the 800th largest company in the index universe. Eligible securities that meet the funds minimum market-cap and liquidity requirements are selected for inclusion. Component sectors in the index are weighted based on their industry contributions to Texas GDP, as reported for the private sector, by the US Bureau of Economic Analysis. Companies within each sector are then weighted by market-cap, with a minimum cap of 0.05% and a maximum cap of 10% per constituent. The index reconstitutes and rebalances quarterly.
