The fund is passively managed and primarily invests in large- and mid-cap companies in the Canadian market. The fund starts from a broad investment universe that covers 85% of the Canadian market segment and uses an ESG criteria to evaluate whether a company is eligible for inclusion in the fund. The ESG criteria aim to exclude those that (1) fail to respect established norms and principles like environmental protection, human rights, labor standards, and anti-corruption, (2) have involvement in controversial weapons and business activities, (3) don't have female representation in any top decision-making positions. The resulting universe then excludes the top 25% of issuers with the highest carbon intensity profiles within each sector. The selected securities are weighted according to free-float market capitalization, and the maximum weight of a single security is 10%. The index is rebalanced quarterly.
