Zilliqa to Activate Mainnet Hard Fork on October 22
Zilliqa is preparing for a major network upgrade under Zilliqa 2.0. The hard fork is scheduled at block 11,998,800 on October 22, 2025, following its earlier activation on the testnet at block 14,997,600 on September 19, 2025. The update introduces improvements in security, stability, and efficiency, including stricter validation, faster state migration, and optimized backend performance. Validators are advised to update nodes before the fork to avoid disruptions.

ZIL Info
Zilliqa (ZIL) is a public, permissionless blockchain designed to offer high throughput and secure smart contract execution. Launched in 2017, it was the first blockchain to implement sharding, a technology that allows new blocks to be confirmed in parallel, which significantly increases the number of transactions the network can handle per second. The native cryptocurrency of Zilliqa, also called ZIL, is used for transaction fees and as the 'gas' for executing smart contracts. The project's main aim is to enable new solutions to the scalability problem of existing blockchains, thereby allowing for blockchain technology to be effectively utilized in sectors demanding high-speed transactions, such as digital advertising, gaming, and financial services.
