Nvidia Commits Up to $100 Billion in OpenAI Partnership

Less than 1 min read

Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) will invest as much as $100 billion in OpenAI through non-voting shares and provide the AI company with data center chips, the firms said. The agreement includes at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems, with initial deliveries planned for 2026 on its Vera Rubin platform.

OpenAI, most recently valued at $500 billion, will use the funds to purchase Nvidia hardware as it scales AI infrastructure. Nvidia's stock jumped more than 4% to a record high, and Oracle's stock rose 6% on hopes that demand for data centers would rise.

Analysts said that the deal makes both businesses stronger, but it could catch the attention of antitrust regulators as they keep an eye on Nvidia's supremacy in AI processors and OpenAI's rising involvement in the industry.
