Figma Teams Up with Google Cloud to Boost AI Design Capabilities

Less than 1 min read

Figma (FIG) has teamed up with Google parent Alphabet's cloud service GOOG GOOGL to expand its use of artificial intelligence across the design platform's fast-growing user base of more than 13 million monthly active users, the companies announced Thursday.

The collaboration will integrate Google's Gemini AI models including Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4 to help designers generate images, test site functions, and streamline workflows. Google said the tools will allow Figma users to create high-quality visuals with simple prompts while speeding up development cycles.

Early testing of Gemini 2.5 Flash has already cut latency by 50% for Figma's Make Image feature, improving performance and responsiveness.

The partnership follows a big week for Figma: ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman announced Figma's integration into OpenAI's new Apps SDK, part of a broader push to embed creative tools inside AI platforms. Figma shares have surged more than 10% this week as excitement builds around its expanding AI capabilities.
