T-Mobile Names Srini Gopalan Next CEO In Succession Plan

Less than 1 min read

T-Mobile TMUS is making a leadership change this fall. The company said Monday that Srini Gopalan, currently chief operating officer, will step into the CEO role on November 1, 2025. He'll take over from Mike Sievert, who is moving into a new position as Vice Chairman.

Sievert isn't stepping away entirely. He'll remain on the board and continue to shape T-Mobile's strategy, innovation, and talent development as part of the handoff. It's a transition designed to give Gopalan room to lead while keeping Sievert's experience close at hand.

Gopalan comes with plenty of telecom experience, most recently running Deutsche Telekom's German business before joining T-Mobile. Investors had a muted reaction, with the stock down 1.2% in premarket trading Monday as the market weighed the succession.

For shareholders, the move signals continuity at the top while giving T-Mobile a fresh leader to guide its next chapter of 5G expansion and growth.
