Nvidia Launches Open-Source Physics Engine and GR00T Robot Model

Less than 1 min read

Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) unveiled the open-source Newton Physics Engine and its Isaac GR00T N1.6 robot foundation model at the Conference on Robot Learning in Seoul.

Newton, developed with Google DeepMind and Disney Research, enables advanced simulations of robotic motion and manipulation. GR00T integrates Nvidia's Cosmos Reason system, allowing robots to follow complex instructions and perform multi-step tasks.

The company also introduced updated Cosmos models for generating synthetic training data and new workflows for dexterous grasping. Hardware announcements included the GB200 NVL72 system with Blackwell GPUs and Jetson Thor for on-robot inference.

Nvidia said robotics companies including Boston Dynamics and Agility Robotics, along with research institutions such as Stanford and ETH Zurich, are adopting its platforms. The firm noted its technologies were referenced in nearly half of the papers at the conference.
