Super Micro Computer Launches Subsidiary to Support U.S. Government AI Infrastructure

Less than 1 min read

Super Micro Computer (SMCI, Financials) said it has established a dedicated subsidiary to supply artificial intelligence server and data center solutions to U.S. federal agencies. The new unit will provide systems manufactured and tested at the company's Silicon Valley facilities.

CEO Charles Liang said the initiative is designed to support the government's effort to expand AI use while ensuring domestic production and security compliance. The announcement follows a White House directive from April requiring federal agencies to appoint chief AI officers and develop internal AI strategies.

Super Micro's new operation comes amid growing federal interest in applying AI to operational efficiency, including data analysis, logistics automation, and risk assessment. Agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration have already begun integrating AI for safety and reporting systems.

The company's announcement also follows similar moves by AI infrastructure firm CoreWeave, which said it would enter the federal market this week to provide cloud computing services. Super Micro added that it is exploring additional U.S. manufacturing capacity to meet rising demand.
