Slovenian consumer prices increased by 3.1% year-on-year in October, accelerating from a 2.6% increase in September, driven mainly by higher food and housing costs, data from the national statistical office showed on Thursday.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained on average unchanged compared with September.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages surged 6.8% on the year, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose 4.2%, the statistics office said.

Goods prices climbed 3.3% year-on-year in October, outpacing services, which increased by 2.7%, marking the first time since May 2023 that goods inflation has exceeded services inflation.

Non-durable goods posted the largest annual increase among the goods categories, rising 4.7%, while durable goods edged up 0.6% and semi-durable goods gained 0.2%.
